The proton is a great marker for the price. I've been impressed with its performance.

Couple of quirks with mine so far:
The eye adjustments for brittle paint; I turned mine all the way up and then the gun only shoots once when powered up, then the eyes never see a ball again. Turn the eyes off and its fine. Turned it back to factory and it worked, then set it to its lower setting and the gun seemed to be more responsive to my trigger pulls. No issues with breaks/chops in the barrel or breech on any of the settings. Paint was RPS premium.
You can turn the eyes off at any time, but you can't turn them back on unless the eyes see something in the breech. Not sure if I like this yet or not.

I'm guessing the eye adjustment for brittle paint is changing the eye delay setting(increasing it). My guess is that the delay is so long the eyes are no longer seeing an empty breech before the next ball loads. This is probably causing the program to think the eyes are malfunctioning.
The good news is there is no need to really use that setting. While a slightly longer eye delay is nice to make sure a ball is fully loaded before the gun shoots, most breaks are caused by the next ball in the stack being clipped by the bolt. So this setting is almost useless. Your best bet is to lower your pressure and raise your dwell so the bolt has slightly less energy behind it. Depending on your hopper you may also want to decrease your stack tension.
The only other thing is a modded or new bolt to make sure the ball stack sits upright better. Most spoolers have a bit of roll back in the bolt face which can sometimes cause issues with brittle paint.

Some one else on here had this issue "But the BIGGEST problem I noticed is a major issue, when ramping the marker ran away from me a couple times and would continue firing without pressing the trigger, the only way to correct this problem was to turn it off, this was not only a major gun malfunction but a safety issue im concerned about."
mine did it as well.. is this maybe just a setting that needs adjusted?

If you're using the ramp 1 or 2 setting, it ramps with 3 shot bursts so when you let go of the trigger its still going to go through that 3 shots at the very end.

Shortest possible trigger settings just cause problems. You need some play before and after the switch activates. More so before to allow the switch to open up and fully reset between pulls.
Adjusting your debounce can also help since not all switches are the same. Your gun may need more or less time on that setting. If the gun is goig fully auto......something is wrong with your current settings and/or adjustments.

Shot this gun today for the first time and bought it after the first game I used it. Its legit, and shoots godly with the deadly winds (.687) barrel on it! Worth the 200 I bought it for, forsure!

So, its okay for all sorts of PL G6Rs, Ego, Geos, etc. But an inexpensive PL gun is unnecessary?
Shot a friends Aura around the time they came out. I was pretty impressed with it for the price. If I was in the market for a good shooting low-mid price range gun, I'd seriously consider one of these.

Oh I'm sorry, but I guess a marker has to look good, in order for it to shoot good.
