What are the speeds/distance of your commute?

I'd go with SIDI or A* vented boots. I dont recommend jeans for highway, but it's your choice.

Should I get full boots, or the cut down half ones like the A* SMX 1 and 2's?

And its all I have right now, and its still shorts weather in TX so Jeans are my best option right now.

Full boots, if you crash with half boots at that speed your foot might rip off.

Try cordura/kevlar jeans, when you're doing 85+ 90*F isn't bad with adequate venting.

Also, cooling vests are your friend.

You don't need 500$ Sidi race boots. I'd look for somethin a little less agressive for commuting and street riding.

Check out the SMX-5 from A*. Good price/ protection compromise.

Decide how well protected you want to be when the worst happens, wear your gear accordingly. You don't "need" any of that stuff, but that isn't what matters.

Here for all of you stupid anti-self defense idiots in this thread, how about this for you? People are ****ing nuts behind the wheel, treat them as if they all want to kill you. Never trust anyone as far as you can throw them... this happened TODAY in the city I live in.
Nobody here said anything remotely anti-self defense. Self defense means somebody is attacking or is definitely about to. It doesn't mean that when somebody taps on your windown you get to point a gun at them, much less shoot them in the face. Especially from within the safety of your car. A motorcyclist pulling up next to you and tapping on your window is not a threat. If you don't want to deal with them yelling at you that's fine, just keep your window rolled up and ignore them.

Your example wasn't even relevant to the discussion...

I think the point was that it dosen't matter if YOU think it's reasonable for the person in the car to point a gun at you or shoot you in the face just for knocking on their window. The person in the car might not be reasonable. They just might be a lunatic. You just never know so it's best not to go knocking on people's windows.

I considered the Sena. But I liked the boomless mic on the UCLEAR and since the reviews for it were great I went with it. Hopefully it works well.

Ok, so what's the best way to mount your iphone/ipod/gps to your handle bars? Anyone use any of the various mounting systems?

Depends how you wear your shoes... most people wear a size or a half size too large. I'd measure your foot in cm to figure it out, and go by the company's size.

The smx5 boot sizing is spot on compared to your shoe. I wear a 14 shoe and the size 14 boot fit perfect. I love my smx5s. So comfy.

What size is that in cm? I wear a 13 shoe and I think I'd need a 49cm
