I was an Accounting/Finance major.

I do a lot of accounting on a day to day basis with mutual funds, along with settlements and custody.

Yeah I'm working but not as an accountant. I hated that ****. It's not hard to find a job with that degree though.

Graduating at the end of this year with a degree in Accounting. I'll be starting work in Fall 2009 at a big four firm. Planning on doing summer-summer for grad school and majoring in Finance. Hoping to spend 4-5 years in public and then going private as a controller and hopefully eventually to a CFO position.

Majored in Finance, minored in Accounting. Worked for BNY Mellon as a Hedge Fund Accountant for a year, now I'm in law school (hence the lack of time to post anymore). Thinking about doing the doing MBA/JD program, but not positive yet.

Accounting jobs are relatively low stress, but you have to be very precise and consistent. Pay isn't too bad either, I loved my job at the bank.

Accounting degree; grad in '98.

I still work in investments but the money is in sales, not the back office work.

Still, I don't think there's any better major out there because all the finance and marketing stuff you can pick up. No "picks up" accounting unless they sit through classes and review courses. No one learns that crap for fun. I think accounting also teaches you to think about finance in a way that other majors don't. Also, having the letters CPA after your name is certainly helpful; has been for me. It's instant credibility.

I have an accounting degree. NYU (Stern) Class of '00. Did the PA game for 4-years. Left it for a more "low-key" career in banking (HA).

I'm a Sophomore with a declared Accounting major I plan to stick through it. I don't know if I want to minor in Economics or Finance.

Yea. I was going to intern this spring, but I've decided against it. I'll be graduating with a Masters sometime in the 2010/2011 year, so I wanted to intern closer to graduation

I'm an accounting major at Baruch College (CUNY system), in my 4th year, but I'm a semester behind. So I am not going to take the CPA exam before the new standards are instituted. Its going to be graduate school for me to meet the new requirements (although, I would have been going either way).
