While I agree that the majority of the perceived "recoil" Is due to Newton's third law, it is not the only force being applied in a markers engine. Not all markers exhibit the same "recoil" so that tells us other forces are to account for that fact. Inert mass, balance, engine design, pneumatic design and moving mass will all impact the amount of "recoil" that will be transferred to the user.

I did get to test it very thoroughly... the results weren't good at all...
I did an efficiency test, and a field test... the marker, when it worked, was incredibly smooth (you'll see it on video) but it just kept jamming. to a point of complete frustration. Had to turn both a rotor and a spire in to a shake and shoot just for it to unjam and fire. Videos will be up within the week. Again, this project seems to be a failure.

Oh well, good try. Sometimes you just have to step back and realize that modern markers shoot great and need nothing.....

So was the bolt not going far back enough that the ball would not drop down into the breech?

Man I was hoping this would work.

Yeah that's exactly it. In order for it to work correctly I would need a spring with significantly less tension.

But I kid you not, the moments where it would work, it was sooooo satisfying...

Sounds like some of the issues I've heard that BLAST had with the spring.

From what I saw from dan, it seems like his spring disintegrated through use. My spring doesn't seem like it would, but it poses other problems (jamming).

Efficiency wasn't as bad as I thought it was gonna be. 9 full pods out of a 3.5k fill on a 77.

Kick was significantly less.

But how often the damn thing would jam... whether using a rotor or a spire... it was too much for me to bear.

I think I can do a spring mod for the Insight. My new Lite spring should work perfectly with a seated washer. Let me investigate further.

That would be AMAZING. If you need testers...

I just need to design a "cup" for the bolt end of the spring to sit into to stabilize the spring during compression/expansion.

Great idea. I'm always interested to test your products....I've had great luck with your Legend/Shocker springs over the years.

ok I don't know if this would work or if there is a snap ring small enough to do this..

but could u cut a groove into the bolt shaft that you could put a snap ring in.

the snap ring would keep the spring away from the front of the can where Phazes spring was getting jammed up at..

the spring would float freely while the bolt is in the forward/firing position but upon return would cushion the return stroke and then pull the bolt forward eliminating bolt stick...

That would require a very short spring.
I like your thinking! Your on the right track!

Ryan I've got an insight if you need a test gun, and I'm right down the road from you

Yeah I don't have my bolt at work, and I wouldn't want the ring to get close to the front face and cause a flow issue..

Maybe a whole new ram would be needed to spring it...

-------------------------------------------------------------------

I was also thinking maybe a pin, drill a small hole truth the ram, then put a retaining pin that would hold the spring in place.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

I feel the issue with Phazes design is that the spring is to small and passes the sealing oring on the front part of the can and gets stuck..

I'm sorry I've been super busy, haven't even had a min to take my gun out of its case..

I'm slowing down at work and might bring it over to get some dimensions to see what I can come up with...
