What's up,
My 68 reg keeps blowing the 18 burst disk even after replacing it, should I buy a new reg or is there something wrong in the inside of it?
If something goes wrong on your regulator, give us a call if you're not sure how to fix it. We might be able to save you some money in the long run.
When a burst disk blows on a Ninja reg, that means there is some debris on the ball seat or the ball seat is damaged at the end of the piston shaft. Simply replacing burst disks will not take care of this issue.
You can inspect the ball seat and if you see any debris on it, clean it off and make sure the ball seat is still round. If its damaged, you will need a rebuild kit which includes a Gen II Piston with orings and a 1.8k burst disk, along with a few other parts If damaged, replace the piston and while you have the reg taken apart, clean everything on the inside, inspect orings (which rarely go bad in our regs), relube with a silicone based grease only, put her back together again, and then install your new burst disk.
Just wanted to know if you approve of what was stated in this vid...
From a liability perspective, we are only allowed to approve or endorse the same method we use here at Ninja. What we've done is take a 4" diameter nylon rod, machined it out so that the slots in the rod will fit over burst disks, fill nipple, gauge, and use those as leverage to get the reg loose enough to remove. Since each manufacture installs with different specifications, we can't say our method is better than another but so far, our method does not mark up regulators since the socket is made from nylon and its very rare for us not to be able to remove any manufacturer's regulator.
Here are some pics I just took. This will give you a good idea of what we're doing over here.

Installing socket over the reg. the reg is about 1/2 way installed at this point:
Here are 3 different views showing how the slots in the socket fit over parts on the reg.

Only problem is, our insurance carrier wont allow us to sell this kind of device. You are more than welcome to take our pictures, bring them to a machine shop and have them custom make you one though
It sure has. As of 8/15/12, any new bottle coming from our manufacturer or any bottle that has been sent in as of that date, will have a new formula. So far, all new bottles and any that were sent in for a new gel coat replacement from that date forward has had zero issues with cracking.
Hey Rob, I purchased one of the limited edition emerald tanks from SMT. I`ve used numerous Ninja tanks in the past with zero issues and I love your products, but this tank seems to like giving me issues.
First problem is that the gel coat cracked over the entire tank and is in poor shape. The tank has lived it`s entire life until a tank cover and has never been dropped or bounced off of any surface.
The second problem is that I had to replace the factory gauge after it blew out sending my glass face cover off into the weeds at my local field and then air started to leak pretty quickly from the gauge needle. I currently have a PE gauge on there with no problems, but it looks weird on there and is massive compared to the stock gauge.
I know that the emerald color is no longer avaliable, so if I send my tank in, what would the fix be?
Also can you send me a PM for what the cost to replace the gauge would be once I send my tank in?

Yep, those bottles were one of the ones that had the bad gel coat. go to our site, click warranty, follow the procedure for Bottle Warranty Replacement and you can send in the bottle to have a new gel coat put on. Since the new gel coat was introduced in August, we have had zero issues with cracking on new or tanks sent in for warranty. It will come back looking the same color and better than it did when it was originally purchased.
When a part goes bad on a Ninja reg, let us know right away. The sooner you contact us, the better the chance of it being covered under warranty. Give us a call at 877-646-5287 (anyone who answers can help) and let them know the gauge face came off and we can see if the reg is still covered.
I have a simple question. I just bought a 68-45 with slp pro reg. Great tank. I noticed that the tank is bigger at the top then at the bottom. Is that normal.?

Hi. I'm not exactly sure what you mean. Do you have any pics you can post of what you're describing?

The circumfrance around the top of the tank under the neck is bigger then the bottom circumfrance... I measured the tank and the top is 13in 3/4 the bottom is 13in 1/2.

To be honest, without having the tank here and seeing it in person, its hard to say what you're seeing.
At any rate, does the bottle leak or have any issues? If not, if the top half is a 1/4" more in diameter than the bottom, it will not affect how the regulator performs or the safety of the bottle.

Im not complaining at all just was wondering. I think it actual works better to fit in my shoulder.

At the base of the Bonnet there is a seam showing where it screws into the gas distribution body. At that point I have a leak in my ninja reg. It's not a pro reg. What does this mean? I don't have a vice to unsrew the reg off the tank. My local shop will charge 50$ to service it.

Ravenstylea2. Your reg needs servicing. The only time your regulator will leak in that area is if dirt or debris has accumulated on your orings or one of the piston orings are bad.
Degas your bottle, remove the 2 set screws in the bonnet, unscrew bonnet off of the gas distribution body, pulls all of the parts out and wipe them down with a light colored/non-abrasive material, inspect orings on the piston (rare for them to go bad), relube the orings with a silicone based grease, reinstall parts (reference the manual on our website for help or our videos), put the bonnet back on the body, tighten set screws and go have fun.
Let me know if you find any black junk coming off the piston. thats from what we call dirty air fills, which is something that is going to happen just about anywhere you go (unless they offer breathing quality air fills or nitrogen...and i dont know anyone that does).
I've decided to settle with the SLP regulator. But I was wondering on the PRO reg if you could change the shim stuff while the tank was aired up? I don't know much about tanks so sorry if that's a really simple/stupid question.
