I have a feeling there has been a bluefish incident in the past. lol.

How's everyone doing? I'm currently sitting through a 3 hour course on social media community management... just as fun as it sounds (no sarcasm... maybe)!

Meanwhile, I got some work with Timberland! Yes, the yellow boot Timberland! They have a massive factory in country and they got in touch with me to create a media stockpile for them.

I also want to share something really cool with you guys but sadly that will have to wait a tiny bit more. Trust me though... it's something for the ages... (HINT: see post 862)

The timberland thing is awesome Miguel!

Isn't that right in line with your studies? Should help open some doors for you.

If that fish had been any bigger, I would be missing a sizable chunk from my finger.

Figure this topic is pretty relevant so ill ask here instead of making a new post.

Ive been out of paintball for a decade. I always adored the Ego but was far too poor so naturally upon my return to the game I came looking for a PE product. Im not really looking to break the bank just yet, and was leaning towards a GTek over a Etha 2 as a re-starter. Do you think the GTek is worth the extra 150$? It seems like it to me, but have read nothing but good about the E2 going through forums the past few days. just looking for some opinons.

I think if you intend to get a gun with an OLED your clear choice is the Gtek. Actually, if you're looking for a more competition ready package, the answer is still probably Gtek with it's slimmer and (partially) metallic build, rubber fore-grip, and more familiar feel.

If you're looking for the gun with the best price-performance ratio and some pretty creative and unique features, the Etha 2 is waiting for you.

Personally, I think that if you plan to break the bank further down the road, when the time comes to do said bank breaking you'll probably be happier to have picked an Etha 2. Just my dollar minus 98 cents.

BTW Dread, I'm sure that bluefish incident has a story. Are you OK with telling it?

Lets put it this way the OLED isnt as important to me as most ppl. So ill rule that out.. But considering everything else you mentioned, you make me want to jump on the GTek..

I want something that will keep me happy for a year, maybe a little longer. I feel thats more likely to happen with GT than with the Etha2. So ill most likely will go that route, since the price difference isn't that much.

Appreciate the input

Also maybe you guys would know..

If I purchase straight from PE obviously it comes with warranty. But say I purchased from ANS would it be the same? They have a color I want that PE isnt offering on site.

If it is an ANS exclusive colour (they receive standard guns, strip them down, re-ano and then rebuild them) then the warranty is through ANS only. If you buy a stock original PE gun then it is a PE warranty that can be handles through any one of our distributors, techs, stores, fields or direct with us. Whichever works best for you.

Shoot both and decide. As Jack responded in the other thread the core is the same so both markers will share the same robust drivetrain and basic operation. The materials used in both will distinguish them from each other. I'd personally take the Gtek, but that could be a result of it being the first with that core so I remember it more fondly/preferentially.

Both great options.

I mean not much of a story. It depends on how familiar you are with Bluefish, which I certainly was not. This was pretty much the first time I had fished since being a kid, going from tiny Bluegill in a pond, to Bluefish in the ocean who love to fight.

Bluefish have spines on their fins, and teeth in their mouth. I was made aware of both, and found out about the spines real quick the first time I grabbed on to de-hook it. After being stabbed by a 6 inch row of spines I was careful to slide my hand down the back of the following fish to fold the fins back before gripping.

Like I said, Bluefish love to fight. It makes them a lot of fun to reel in. But once they get in the boat they are pissed and do not care if you are actually trying to get them off the hook and back in the water.

Now how a fish "jumps" when it is hanging in the air is beyond my scientific reckoning. But as I said I had gotten into the habit of slowly running my hand down the back of the fish to avoid the spines. This time I started a little too high, and was a little too slow, and that fish jumped up and latched onto one of my fingers.

Once the other person I was with pried the damned thing off my finger I found a circle of 20+ deep cuts caused by the razor sharp teeth. Some of these would continue to bleed while bandaging for almost a week.

We were hitting a school that were only about 7-12 inches long. Preferably we would have found ones that were worth keeping, and they can be 40+ inches, and 20+ pounds. Had it been one of those, I would certainly be missing a significant amount of finger.

Wow, I cannot believe I stretched that story so far.

TLDR: A fish bit me...

Yea Im planning on going to a local store just to get a feel for each this weekend. Im also very vain in terms of looks and aesthetics, which the gtek is leaps and bounds above.. so thats easy

I know the Etha 2 maintenence needed is minimal, and since they are similar component wise, im sure gtek is not far off. But im assuming there are some differences that require a bit more attention? Sorry to riddle with redundant seeming questions, i wont bother after this

I'm definitely not going to "cool story bro" you here because I actually enjoyed that read. I learned about bluefish.

Anyone else have a fun or interesting story to tell? I like stories. Stories are fun.
