Its hard to decoy woodies. Usually they just do a fly by. Ive only landed 1 drake woody in my decoys and all i had out was mallard decoys

My dad and i also shot 4 geese this morning. Landed 100 geese in the spread which was just awesome

Good way to spook animals away. Stick with corn.

Around here, if you want to hunt archery you better have scent killer on. Spray everything including your bottom layers, boots, tree stand if its a climber, backpack, bow......everything

As far as attractants, buck bombs I have had some luck with

Zach, do you eat them? I've only had it one time and it was pretty gristly.....

For rifle I still use it, but not as heavy as your not counting on them to be within 30 yards of you. They also sell a scent killer laundry detergent **** that some people use, and if you want to go all out they have scent killer deodorant, but I don't do all that.

If you don't want to use it, let your clothes hang outside for a few days. I use to that until I moved from my parents to my own place, now I really don't have a place that keeps it out of the weather

I bring a buck grunt with me during the rut, but I only used it once this season. Deer do not make nearly as much noise as what the deer call manufacturers would want you to believe. Sure I've heard plenty of grunts and bleats, but being too aggressive with calls will scare them away. The one time I grunted this season I was with my bow and had an 8 pointer come in at 45 yards. I'd rather let him walk than risking a gut shot on him, but I heard him walking around 75 yards away through the thick **** so I tried grunting at him with no success. I did hang a scrape dripper which I think worked exactly as advertised and exceeded my expectations. $25 well spent.

For bowhunting, yes. Your ideal shot will not be more than 30yds away with a bow so definitely use it. If you're just gun hunting covering a field with a 200yd buffer, I'd still use it but not nearly as aggressively as during bow season.

I use the laundry detergent and I also have a body wash/shampoo that I try to use before I get in my stand for bow season. It's also wise to store your hunting clothes in a rubbermaid bin while heading to your hunting spot and just get dressed in the field. I still spray all my gear with scent killer even after I use the detergent and body wash. If you're a smoker, it's wise to not smoke while wearing what you'll be wearing in the stand.

Also, use the wind to your advantage if you can.

Hell ya we eat them. We cube them up, marinate them in italian dressing for 24-36 hours, butterfly the cubes, put some cream cheese in them, wrap them in bacon and grill them.
Its ****in delectable

As for playing the wind, scent killers and all that happy horse ****,
Ive pissed on a deer already from my tree stand. Ive pinched a loaf off in the middle of a trail and had a deer walk right past it like it was nothing.

Ive shot downwind deer after letting out the biggest fart too

Those are just some examples of how i think those tactics, are dumb...

I've heard of guys having deer wander up to them while smoking a cig in their treestand, but that doesn't mean I'd recommend doing it. Without doubt, I have seen a ton more deer when using scent control than when I wasn't.

A coyote or hog wouldn't be phased. I have a pretty powerful .177 pellet gun and it sometimes takes a couple shots to kill a squirrel. The last coyote I killed took 2 rounds of 7.62x39 so I would put that money towards a real rifle instead if I were you. A .223 would work fine for what you're looking for it sounds like.

I've dropped plenty of coyote in their tracks with .17 HMR.

I was just curious because they market them as "predator" guns.

I've always wanted a .17, but I wouldn't call any pellet gun a predator gun.
