Finally got all my physical **** done and Im going to selection in October! Cant ****ing wait. Its time to really start hitting the trails around here. Any advice from the guys who have gone? DMM?

Im feeling good about my running but Im going to keep working at it. Ive been here in CO (from texas) for about 4 months and Ive got my run down to 13:16 2 mile. But Im trying to get out more on the trails to really build my legs up. Sort of taking it easy tho so I dont break myself before I even get there.

Exactly what Undr said. Don't break yourself before you get there. 13:16 2 mile is fine. You take PT Test on the first day, you obviously know that there's a 4mile and a 6mile. Be able to negotiate both of them at LEAST at a 8min/mile pace. All your times are cumulative so if you're weak in an area, you can do better else where. Other than those runs, you're going to have a ruck on your back the rest of the time.

Make sure you can ruck for hours and for miles with weight, and keep you're endurance up. Other than that, Selection isn't as much physical as a lot of people make it out to be. You either know you're going to pass and get selected or you don't. It really does all come down to the mental aspect of it.

But team week is terrible. That's sheer "Strong Ranger" mentality. Just do it.

It's not hard. I did like 2, 3 mile ruck-runs before selection and that was it lol.. if anything just toughen up your feet and get your shoulders used to hurting.. only hard part is team week that sucks dick

edit: basically if you're already athletic and do your own thing to keep in shape.. you'll be fine.. too many fools show up there can't really even do much physical **** as it is.. then it just gets to their head and that's when they quit

edit: well I guess when I think about it.. get your mind right and 'in the moment'.. don't think about **** 'back home' or whatever.. too many guys had problems thinking about **** outside of the task at hand and ended up quitting.. you'll realize this when you get there.. you'll realize "damn wtf these *****es doing here" srs.

edit: What's your MOS? If you're infantry or cav or w/e you'll be good.. even though what we do isn't really 'hard'.. it's a lot harder than most the pogue **** and you'll see that when you get there with a bunch of pogues *****ing about some **** that they 'had to do' back at their unit one day and be liek "wtf we do that **** all the time" or w/e.. Also.. know the basics of land-nav.. just the basics if fine. you'll be brought up to speed when you get there.. PM me i'll send you an 'outline' that I sent to my bud awhile back right after I got back.. pretty detailed

edit again: in the end a lot of people end up talking it up more than it actually is.. at 'least that's my opinion.. lots of people don't want to make their buddies think it wasn't as hard as they originally thought/everyone else in the army believes it to be.. it's not.

EDIT AGAIN: As far as building your legs up.. yeah I guess run and ruck but actually go do squats and leg presses and ****.. works wonders for your muscle mass /strength all around.. wouldn't know what selection would be like had I not been working legs in the gym.. probably woulda been harder but iunno

i wonder if my five foot eight 195lbs fat *** body can still do the same run time at dmm
i bet after a month i'd be around the same pace as him and he's jacked, and i'm fat but yet i'd still run the same pace as him
in other news one of my best friends in the army is off to do his pathfinder. look up our pathfinder and shudder. it's just three months of recce, free fall, raids, lz dz set ups, with a hundred pound ruck on your back.
last course they did, they free falls into the atlantic and did a link up with one of subs that hasn't exploded yet. sounds pretty bad *** if you ask me.

I look regular as **** when I'm in regular clothes w/ no pump though lol pisses me off.. needa work on my forearms / arms more but I only do isolation after my compound lifts which is probably why they're not growing as much since I'm already burned out some by the time I get to them in my workout..

needa make arm only day I guess
