T2i shutter question

So I took a bunch of pictures yesterday and I had issues getting my shutter speed to speed up because of the low lighting in my local indoor field. The camera saw able to take decent pics but I would need them to not move at all and hold the camera super still. Any ideas on what I can do to help myself out?

Av and I had the iso all the way up. But to matter what I changed I couldnt speed the shudder speed up

A canon 55-250 IS
And I'm not sure what my ap was at. What do you guys usually run for low light quality pictured? I do have Lightroom and photoshop for editing if needed

The editing isn't all that helpful. Your aperture on that lens, since its f/4 - f/5.6, was probably on the 5.6 side since you would naturally zoom - and that is terribad for indoor shots, even at max ISO on a T2i. You need faster glass to shoot indoor sports, its really that simple. Ways to mitigate this are shoot at the lowest aperture number possible, highest ISO available. Past that....good luck.

haha any ones that aren't anywhere from $700-2000? Would my set up be fine now if the lighting was better?

Hey Dan haven't seen you post in a while. The gun you made for me back in 2003 still works great.

Anyway:
You can rent one those canon lenses for around $60 a week from borrowlenses.com. Photography is a good thing to try before you buy.

Also see f you can get more light in there. Even with a faster lens you will want more light for the kind of shots you want.

Your setup in broad daylight is fine.

If you're shooting indoors sports photography and are on a sub $700 budget it'd be hard to get anything under f/4 so you'd be at a loss there.

So I'd save up for a 70-200 f/2.8 if you're doing a lot of indoors, or a 70-200 f/4 if you're doing mainly outdoors.

But definitely check your settings... having a messed up aperture (example, shooting f/16 indoors) is going to cause seriously low shutter speeds which will lead to blurry photos. So make sure your settings are as accurate as can be.

Would the f2.8 be okay for outdoors as well? If I'm spending that much I'd want it to work in both in and outside

do i need to get the canon version? or would a sigma work just as well, i don't have the money to drop 1600 on a lens

A sigma with a canon mount would be perfectly fine at f/2.8. Even with f/2.8 though, understand indoors can be difficult (especially with how poorly lit many of these places are in paintball).

f/2.8 is more expensive because its more useful; lower the number value, the better it performs in low light (and, consequently, you can stop it down to f/4, f/5.6, etc and improve sharpness).

If you aren't familiar with f-stops and how they all relate to eachother, I suggest you look around the internet; there are some great resources that explain it well. Its what I used when I started.

what about going with a 50mm f1.8? Then i could just take pictures on the sidelines that are closest to me?

Honestly, you won't be able to get **** with a 50mm in terms of traditional paintball shots. You'll have to crop heavily just to get good framing, in almost all cases. You'll be good enough in terms of exposure (well, about as good as you can get) but...it is not ideal at all.
