Are there any problems that are more native to one gun than the other. I'm new to the pump game. I've been looking for guys out at my local field with pumps when I'm there so I could hopefully get a chance to shoot these two and see which feels better to me.

I've been unable to do so though so I'm kind of forced to buy one and go trial and error. I like the half block design but I wasn't sure if these tend to be more problematic than the full block. Anything in particular I should look for when purchasing one used? Are there any parts that tend to go bad before others?

I know these are newb questions but when searching I didn't see much more info than just "buy what feels better".

You can't really go wrong with either CCM. I never hard a problem with dirt getting into the slot of the 6.5. It really comes down to preference.

Personally i find the half block design much easier to work with, tune and tech wise. I dont like full blocks at all. I dont like the cocking out the back design. I hit my mask with it. Its also a pain to adjust the spring tension. Just not a fan.

On the otherhand some people say that the longer bolts of the full block allow for a flatter shot then the half blocks. I personally dont see that but Hey.

I personally use the s6.5 and i love it. I added the tech t hush bolt and it made this so smooth and so quiet. I personally feel the half block can be made to run smoother but thats my humble opinion.

To be very honost. You cannot go wrong with either CCM. youll fall inlove with both fast!

do you want a full block or a half block gun? both are the same thats the only difference really

Personally I can aim better with a full body gun so thats why I went with my S6.

That and no slot to get dirt/paint in.

I like the half block because you dont have to worry much about a beavertail and you can invest in a slot blocker which is nice

both use 1 allen wrench and no parts need to removed to adjust, whats the hard part?

That! Its not a big deal cause once you have these dialed in they shouldn't have to change much. But when fields do have different FPS for events 275-300 and you play at many different fields a week it gets to be a pain pulling out the rod, adjusting, putting it back, testing then pulling it out again and again.

If your Pump is tuned the best it can be then the reg should be at its optimum pressure and you tighten or loosen your main spring as necessary. Goal to have it as loose and smooth as possible. Its a small issue but can get annoying. Just MHO

You don't have to remove the cockin rod to adjust the velocity. Just pull the back block back, put an Allen wrench in one of the three holes in the IVG around the cocking rod and turn... It is no harder than adjusting the same IVG on a halfblock.

Not NO harder, you still have to deal with the bolt opening, but much easier than having to pull the cocking rod.

If you're making a 25+ fps adjustment, it's better to simply tweak your reg a little before adjusting the IVG. I do this regularly, between a local indoor I play 3-4 weeks a month and virtually every other field, using an S6.

Halfblocks are nice to keep a shorter gun and all, but I can't shoot them like I can a full body, most of the time.

I have been pretty lucky and managed to get extensive play time with both. There is a BARELY NOTICEABLE but shorter stroke with the 6.5 that is a little stiffer.
The S6 feels a little smoother but longer pump stroke.

In the end I chose a J2L which is a full body.

If you are torn I would bum one and check it out before getting it-

J12 is out =) Point shoot kill

I think the difference in stroke is return springs that have changed over the years. They slightly adjusted the strength a few times.

This. I rarely adjust the IVG, only through the reg with my guns. And I have 6 to choose from. The J12 may be next in line to be added.

I often adjust via my reg as well because when I actually have to make an adjustment it's usually from 270 to 300 or vice versa. I occasionally have to make small adjustments, but usually just change my bore to do that.

It's important to note that with a CCM gun (and virtually any sniper/cocker), it's recommended to adjust via the IVG in the back of the gun. Just for those reading along here, not in the know.
