Should I edit out profanity in my video?
Remember your video will not only be seen by paintball players, it will be seen by people who are considering playing and by parents who are deciding if they should allow their kids to play. So if you want your video to get showcased on there, you should make sure to limit profanity in your video.
How do I embed a video into my post?
If your video is hosted on Youtube or Vimeo, you can use the [video] bbcode to embed them right in your post. Simply wrap the URL to your video in video tags so it looks like this: [video]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_Y0_Z-gKTc[/video]
How do I embed a video in HD into my post?
To make your youtube video display in HD, just add "&hd=1" without the quotes to the end of the youtube url. Make sure it is within the video tags too. It should look like this: [video]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_Y0_Z-gKTc&hd=1[/video]
Why a PbNation Youtube Channel?
We want to promote paintball and showcase some of the people who are creating positive paintball content that captures some of the fun and excitement of a game we all love.
The channel won't have gratuitous swearing, malicious play or adult content since it is supposed to be a way to set a positive example and hopefully attract new people to the game. There are enough videos and channels out there that portray paintball in a negative light.
Uploading Your Video to PbNation's Youtube Channel
If you've been selected to have your video showcased on the PbNation Youtube channel, you're going to need to get a high quality copy of your movie to us so we can upload it to our Youtube channel.
In order to do so, we've decided to utilize Dropbox. Dropbox is a really handy tool that allows you to keep files in sync across your iPhone, PC, or Mac.
Getting hooked up to upload files to us is easy:
Sign up for Dropbox and get 2gb of free storage using this link.
Once you've signed up for Dropbox, send an email to video@pbnation.com containing the email address you signed up for Dropbox with.
We'll send you an email inviting you to to the shared upload folder named "PbNation Upload".
Once you're hooked up to our shared folder, you can drag and drop a high resolution copy of your video for us to process into the folder, and it will upload in the background.
Can people who submit their videos to PbNation's Channel also make money off their videos?
Yes. Simply upload them yourself to your own channel and opt in to become a partner and allow advertisements. Sending the video to PbNation's channel is all about increasing your exposure, not about limiting what you can do with your own work.
Badges
Here at PbNation we've wanted to recognize the professional videographers for some time, but we are equally amazed at the amateurs. We've been waiting to unveil the new professional videographer badge because we wanted to also show our appreciation for paintball players on the site who are making all types of videos. We also wanted to recognize the people searching the internet to find quality paintball videos as well as the people taking raw footage and making their own mix. We have 5 new Videographer Badges to unveil so we can recognize these different groups of videographers.
- This badge is for professional videographers like DerDer, MWaG, Traumahead, ETV, more.
- We have some amazingly talented people on here who are nothing less than the next generation of paintball filmmakers.
- These badges are for the talent scouts who are looking for the next big thing.
- This badge is for people who create a video that is good enough to make it up on the new PbNation Youtube channel.
- Users earn this badge by posting a popular video in this Video Forum. Your video thread must get both views and comments before System automatically assigns you the badge. Your best bet to get your video noticed is to post up the link on your Facebook/Twitter/Google+/Pinterest/Whatever and try to get people to the thread. Users who earn this badge also automatically complete "15 Minutes of Fame" on Level 3 in the Pursuit game.
Patrick from Monkey with a Gun put together this collection of video tutorials.
How do I get the videographer badge? I have a degree in Film/TV production, and I was a beta tester for the first digital edit suites (Avid, and ImMix). I am a trained editor, hand held camera operator, studio camera operator, steady cam operator, lighting tech, audio tech, producer, director... I can do it all.
Today I run the only 1080 HD camcorder with ZOOM gun cam in woodsball...
My youtube page has over 70 videos that I produced/edited/shot, and I have had over 180,000 views since I started it 3 years ago. My paintball test video has over 50,000 views just in that one video.
