question about being an M1 crewman
hey guys i just had a question
i was thinking about joining army or marines and i have an interest in doing something that involves tanks, the whole only thing is im really ****ing tall 6'6'' to be exact and i have difficulty getting in and out of cars let alone a tank, just wondering from anyone who has experience, should i just look into something else or will i fit into a tank?

Unless they have changed it, as of three years ago there was a 73" height maximum for 19K in the Army.
a little dated but this site may help with your choices

true but he also lived/lives with the tank crewmen since he knew my friend from bootcamp that is stationed there also and said he was in the same building or something like that. So if he doesn't know out right he can find out for you.
OT poster - you can check out LAV's and Tracks in the Marine Corps they might allow taller people.

hi. I'm a tank mechanic in the Marines.... and yes, I have a tank license... and mechs often ride as loaders or drivers on tanks in Iraq. I can do the tanker job just fine. I can also fix them... because it's my job.
....anyway... yes, we've got some tall guys that are tankers. I know of at least one guy that's 6'4" or something like that. So, you're fine. Plus, even if there is a height requirement, there's always a waiver for everything.
Tanks in the Marine Corps... it's kind of cool.... expect to deploy twice in 4 years, and for your hearing to suffer a bit.... and your knees might get stiff after climbing on and off them a bunch.
.... as long as you're not incredibly fat, you can fit in a tank. Yeah, it'll be kind of a tight fit, but whatever.
any more questions, just feel free to ask. I'd give you a more eloquent answer, but.... well, a friend of mine died. **** the world right now.

There isn't an MOS for bradleys. You would have to pick 11x and hope that you might end up in a mech unit, most of which don't even use tracks anymore. Even then, only one out of 8 guys in a mech company is even a crewman. You could also end up in strykers too..
