When banned IP address's should be blocked

Hello, I feel that when someone is banned off of pbnation their IP address should be blocked instead of just their name. It is just as easy for a scammer to change his name when being banned. I feel that blocking user's IP addresses would help control the number of scammers on PBnation. Scammers are most likely going to change their name anyways after scamming someone because it would be too easy to look under theft report and finding their name. Why not start a clean sheet and make a whole new name, and not have to worry about someone finding out their a scammer. In my opinion, scamming is becoming more of a problem that it use to be. It is just way to simple for scammers to succeed if just their name is blocked and not their whole computer in general.

Thank you,
zeb

Half the time, they have access to a second computer, or for the younger ones, a school computer. This is not a very ethical solution to the problem.

oh yea i see, good point. Though many of times , i have had friends get banned that night and then just make another name almost like it and continue on posting. I admit they would still be able to bypass it, but atleast they would not be able to access at home.

You can change your IP and also mask it.

Pretty much, IP bans are useless to the computer knowledgable. That's why Boat keeps coming back.

Not just that, but if the scammer is using a system that doesn't assign a static IP, an IP ban could end up blocking a legitimate user from the site.

Silly 2k6r
Boat is a spammer who really sucks at spamming, there have been better.

They DO occasionally do IP bans, but people can simply get around that with a proxy.

Like "N0t tradeing furst, i dun cayr h0w much f3edbak u hab"?

But yeah, get all of their information, if they speak 1337 do not deal with them, if they seem to be immature do not deal with them unless you talk to the parents, search their name/aim SN in the theft report forum, and make sure his feedback is legit (ie. look at location, if everyone is from "*941* in da house*, please, do not deal with him and report it. Also, look at join date/how many posts the person has).

Im pretty sure this is off topic, but it should help someone.
