Tribal kick

Ok, I've just received my first Tribal. It's an unmilled Mephisto. I like everything about it except it seems to kick like a mule. I'm comparing the kick to my Vikings and Excals. It kicks considerably more. Is it something that I can change with LPR pressure or do they just naturally kick more by design?

I'm sorry I missed this thread entirely.
Compared to AKA yes sir it would "kick like a mule" , comparing apples to oranges with those 2.
Naturally have a lot of kick the stock parts are for the most part poo....... With upgrading it will reduce all of the flaws.
They (Tribals) are more of a project.... there will be no resale value to speak of.

The big 3 will get you on your way.......
1) lpr ......(edwin makes 3 types, a lpr adapter from blue with a cocker lpr of your choice) .
2) hpr..... any good reg will do
3) tronics...... (again edwin has a bbe kits for the stock board, blue has a custom warlord drop in board or has a fury chip for the stock tronics, 3rd option is a morlock and or chaos board with custom harness..edwin had a custom harnesses for awhile.

Again if your expecting to make money ..... sorry wont happen.... If you are wanting to just to have a project gun, to tinker with here or there this will be for you.

sent a pm as well.

I don't plan on selling it or trying to make any money on it. I just like tinkering with the "non mainstream" markers.

It has Edwin's LPRC right now and I put one of my sidewinders on it. I wish someone made a different ram or maybe a balanced valve. I think that would reduce the kick somewhat.

Thanks for the reply anyway.

There are a few valves that are floating around... blue makes one , macdev made a red valve, there are rocket valves as well.
I have a prototype aka valve.

As far as the ram ..... I wish there were different ones, but it never came to pass.

I love MacDev valves. Where could I find one of them?

Where did you get the AKA valve?

polish the hell outta the ram shaft till it almost allows the hammer to pull the shaft out by weight and gravity alone (when removed from the marker). Once your ram is in that condition it will allow rou to use the lowest psi pressure to accomplish the task of opening the valve. That will reduce the kick, but as Shifty pointed out it will never be an AKA..... Also keep in mind that the Tribal weighs in at much less than the average Vike or Excal so any kick will be more easily noticed.

I found that after getting Punishers LPR adapters and decent LPRs, my Mephistos have all smoothed out... I've also thrown Fatty regs or Detonators on them and that helped quite a bit.

I've found that with my Twister fully upgraded (Softy bolt, PPS Fatty, PPS Microrock, Punishers LPR adapter, and RR Trigger) it's more like shooting a heavy Timmy than a Tribal.

Also, milling the crap out of a Mephisto (they're bulky, and they lend themselves to it) will make balance you out a little... I personally think taking as many ounces of weight off as possible and throwing a 15* ASA on there is the way to go. It'll still kick but the balance is nicer.
