Please excuse the thread jack. For those who don't have the tools, skills, time, etc. to do this mod, Pooty has informed me that he will have preorders for the NDZ LP bolt guide posted up on his website some time this week.
But, for all you master machinists, airsmiths, and tinkerers, please continue. It's fun to see y'all's minds and ingenuity at work. The shocker community is an interesting and resourceful bunch of guys for sure.

Wouldn't it be possible to drill a vent hole in the bottom of the gun bellow the area where the sleeve meets the guide to vent the air outta the gun instead of in your face? Then you could just put one set screw into the back of the gun and put it up to the vent holes in the guide to block them off. So you still have to use a smaller bit so that it doesn't break through the walls in the #12 oring gland? What size bit can you use safely in standard size?

Main problem I'm looking at is one of my guides is a 9 mm and the other is a hybrid. Both stick out in the back and make it to where my drill bits aren't long enough to go all the way up in the shaft. Don't really know what to do about that.
7:Next mark 3 evenly space dots around where the rear #12 oring grooves taper meets the 1/4" shaft between the 2 #12 oring grooves. use the dremel and the #31 drill bit(or 1/8" bit) to drill the 3 holes. you want to hold the dremel at an angle so that the taper tip of the drill bit is parallel to both the 1/4" stem and the rear #12 oring groove's taper. drill until you feel the bit break through into the hollowed out center section of the guide.
if you were to use two holes instead of three would you see much of a difference in flow you think?

Shouldn't. Think about how small some of the other air passages in the gun are.Third hole couldn't hurt though.
Yeah, but the other holes are used to fill and empty small chambers to either push the bolt back and forth or fill the firing can. The space inside the guide needs to dump quickly to fire the paintball. Which is also why the ports on bolts are so large.
True but think about the one hole used to refill the can of a non he can. Like I said, three couldn't hurt but I would think the two holes would be plenty. I would personally have three just to be on the safe side.
yes but the reason I say three holes instead of two is simply because I want to use this mod along with one that Jim came up with, in order to do both Mods I would only be able to put two and not three holes

1) I didnt come up with it. Inmylife maybe? I don't remember who.
2) if you do both you wouldnt have to drill any angle holes just drill straight through and you have 1 large hole in the middle.
yet again you step in and make me feel stupid...***......I was even thinking about how you wouldn't have to drill the angle holes on a SFT guide aswell...damn it...

Just an FYI for anyone trying this with an after market guide: check how deep you can effectively tap it with your tap first. I have a 9mm guide I started on and then realized my tap would not go all the way down to the vent holes in the guide because of how far back from the gun the guide is. I mean the tool less part sticks way back from the gun so the tap isn't long enough to reach the vent holes.
The problem is the shaft part of the tap, the part that doesn't cut threads, is bigger in diameter than the part that cuts threads. I will probably have to drill the back out to the next size up and have a bigger set screw there.
So the shank is to big? You just need to give yourself clearance for the tap, you don't need a bigger nut. Use a drill that is a few thousandths bigger then the shank of your tap and take that in as far as needed.

I'm doing this to one of mine now. I put a 5/16 grub screw down at the base of the shaft and now I'm going to use a 3/8 grub at the back of the shocker. I had to do that cuz the shaft on my Tap was bigger in diameter than the part that cuts threads. I had to tap the first part then drill the back part out the next size up for the tap to fit down in the shaft. Now I am going to have to tap the back the next size up but that's no big deal. Only big problem I'm having is drilling through the back grub screw to vent the air. I'm thinking of venting it through the guide and then through the body of the gun at the snatch grip. I would drill into the guide between the guide threads and 22 o-ring on the guide and then drill a small hole in the body of the gun between the solenoid inserts up into the section of the gun where that part of the guide lines up.
that is if both parties don't mind, and i will give y'all full credit!
