Padding Rules
My question is about padding, my team is about order jerseys for the gpl, now the rules say Players may wear only one layer of underclothing consisting of, at maximum, one pair of under-shorts and one short or long sleeve t-shirt. Under Armor will be considered a layer. Padding in garments will be limited to elbow, forearm, knee, shin, & hips, provided that the padding has not been modified from the manufacturer’s original form. Any other soft padding in garments or equipment is prohibited. No part of a player may be covered by more than two layers of clothing. Chest protection (female players only). My question is can i wear a chest protector underneath my non padded jersey because i dont want get alot welts on my body from getting shot.

All Levels of Raza jerseys are legal in the MAPL!
And if you are wearing Raza gear you get a hookup at the booth!

If you question it, it's not worth the risk.
To reference, any marking on your person that is larger than the size of a nickel that is "yellow" is not allowed.
The basic rule of thumb is that if it makes the ref have to work to provide accurate judgement on the field, it isn't legal. With that said, it is the ref's discretion, even if the color does not fall within the designated pantone values of "yellow" (not everyone has pantone value coding memorized in their head).
For instance, I have been asked before to remove my gold cleats, which when hit with any kind of paintball, will not hide a hit. But because the ref on the field I was playing deemed it to be impeding his ability to make a call, he decided to not allow me to play with it.
I would get the jerseys corrected.
If replacing them is not financially feasible, there is always the cheap way out with a sharpie pen.

The best thing I always suggest to players is also submit a picture and you can get the exact call from the committee.

Padding question- no unless ur a female. U pretty much answered your own question.
A lack of padding in the jersey wouldn't make a more padded under layer ok.
Yellow question- knowing my ref bosses probably not ok but I could be wrong. Tape would solve the problem for the time being
-don't quote me I'm just trying to help
-I will probably be reffing

my opnion on the jerseys above is that they should be legal, most of the yellow is on the back, how often is a ref thoroughly checking a players back? and its not a very solid font of yellow. however it is the head refs call, so who would someone contact with the final decision on those jerseys?

Keep in mind any part of your body is able to be hit by a paintball, so whether its on the front or back or even yellow on the bottom of your shoe, it can be deemed by a ref as illegal.
I am not a head ref, but from my experience, that would not be considered legal by many ultimate judges.

Correct me if I'm wrong because I'm definitely not a rule book junkie, but I thought the rule stated something like yellow can't make up over 10% of the material? If that is in fact the rule, I don't believe that the yellow on his jersey is taking up more than 10% of the total material.

From the MAPL 2012 Rulebook:
Quote:
5.01 Protected Color. The excess color yellow is prohibited on any player equipment or clothing, except that a player's jersey, pants, gloves or shoes may have yellow so long as no part of yellow coloring is more than 0.25 cm from some other color, and no more than 10% of any 5cm by 5cm square on clothing or item is yellow. Any player/team found to be wearing clothing that may impede the judge’s ability to make a proper call, may be asked to remove such clothing or may even be ejected from that particular match until item is removed.
|
From the 2012 PSP Rulebook to describe the color yellow:
Quote:
9.7.3.1. For reference purposes, 'yellow' is any color similar to Pantone colors 101, 102, 107, 108, 109, 116, 3945, 3955, 3965, and 803, although any head judge may prohibit any equipment they believe interferes with the judges' ability to officiate effectively.
|
Note that both quotes describe prohibited equipment as being ultimately up to the head judges call. So even though your particular color might not technically fall into the realm of the pantone values of "yellow," If a referee feels that it will make it harder for his ref team to make an accurate call during a tournament, it is up to his discretion whether to allow you to wear it or not.
