I would say 13 or 12. If they are 10 or 11 and they get hit they won't be able to handle the pain most likely and won't want to come back. At 12 or 13, they can handle being hit and understand that you have to play with people better than you to improve.

I started at 10 got shot and cried. My dad told me it builds character and I got over it. My friends brother is like 20 and is a wuss when it comes to getting shot.

My nephew wants to have a go but is only 10 and a bit small. Should he try laser version first, or go for it.

It's for a birthday present.

When they can afford to pay for it. if you give some little kids lets just say a Geo 3, z2, carbon fiber tank and the whole shebang than they wont appreciate it and take care of it because they got it for free. there r some exceptions though. when someone buys there own gear they are more than likely going to take care of their gear more than the kid who got it for free.

All of this made me lol pretty hard I hard i had a mini at the age of 11 and was playing tournaments, I was bad but we all were, we have five year old always come out to the feild, I think that when they can run and gun is when they can play at a feild, it shows that they have coronation and are physically strong.

i would say 13 years old, if you bring them out too early and they get shot bad it could scar their mind. lol, just my opinion.

Both my son and daughter started playing woodsball at 5 remember son went to first day of school with welt on forehead. Both play speedball tournys now 13 and 16 from what i have noticed with kids they are fearless the younger they are, start them to old and i think the pain thing will play with their heads more. Id say when they think they are ready take them out with your friends or family the more people the better. Going one on one they will be anticipating the pain more knowing they are going to get hit now rather than later. And with my kids when they started getting hit and being told it feels better when you hit them made the pain go away faster, let em cry it does hurt then get right back in it.

Honestly it is almost impossible to put an age on when a kid can start playing paintball. So little kids will end up crying after getting hit and some are though as nails. So it really depends on the individual.

I believe that if the player can take a hit without crying and has fun even after being shot, then they are old enough. I saw some 7-8 year olds playing on my field with the "big kids" a little bit ago and they were having a blast!

I was going to let my son start out at age 10 but I was talking it over with my wife and I dont think he will be playing until the ripe old age of 12. Unless he really wants to give it a go at 10, we'll be giving it a go on our property with our stuff first.

I'm sorry but too many *******s play paintball. Or I have seen too many *******s that play paintball. I believe at 12 he'll be able to take the pain a little bit better than at 10, maybe or maybe not.

This past weekend I witnessed a man (by man I mean older than I and I'm 29) put 3 paintballs in a 10 y/o's chest at point blank range, you would of thought that the first yelp that sounded like a rabbit being injured (if you've ever heard a rabbit they scream violently) would of stopped him from firing the 2 bonus shots (he was using a rental because his **** broke, so no it wasn't an electro that caused it, he had to actually pull the trigger 3x's). Granted the guy was delivered some street justice via a few other players that may or may not of overshot the guy on purpose. I had to congratulate the father on keeping his composure. Because I know at this point in my life, if it were my son, there would of been a fist fight.

I take out my friends daughter on the field with me cause she feels more comfortable going with another girl, she is 9...shes been around paintball her whole life. Shes played with other younger kids since she was about 6. But recently has wanted to play with the older more experienced players, she has no fear. When im actually playing i take her to the front of where the action is, she just hunkers down and plays smart. One day she was attempting to snap shoot against a speedballer, but ended up getting shot in the neck (bare skin) she put up her gun and called hit, didnt cry or anything. It always just depends on the kid themselves, if they are not afraid to get shot and know gun safety, let them play.

I'd say any age at which they've demonstrated they can play fairly. Big plus to be able to take the pain too, but you're never gonna know that until they get on the field in the first place haha. ~10 is right.

I started around the age of 10 playing with a brass eagle talon and stingray.

I got dominated and quit playing out on fields because I was a wuss and it hurt badly.

back then they didnt really have all the gear and protection (or chrono rules) they have now
