Bullpup Magfed Marker?

Anyone else out there think RAP4 or another reputable Magfed company should start looking into bullpups for the magfed market? Mechanically it wouldn't be hard to do, it's just something that requires specialized equipment to manufacture or even modify something existing.
I think a bullpup would revolutionize the whole milsim game, as now players could have something easy to run off of a remote and also more compact than any other marker out there, making urban-style games a lot easier to play because the weapon is obviously more pointable. A spool-valve bullpup could be pretty easy as well, because it would be simple to run air through and would allow people to run electronic triggers on the markers, making more like LMGs or other designated squad automatic weapons.
I think it's all-in-all a cool idea. Anyone else?

It's a great idea, but you mention the downside - it is very tricky to figure out where to put a 12ci tank and so you'd likely want to run remote. Remote lines aren't for everyone.

In theory a tank could go just behind the magazine where the grip would be on a normal marker, but it's hard to do without a very long stock.

Check this out, doubt we'll ever see it though cause they say it gets released summer 2011... however I believe theres a video of it out there somewhere... maybe they're prolonging its release so we buy all the s**t like the 468.

Dang, that K1 looks sick as crud! They had the right idea, but I think it'd be even better if they could make something to take existing Dmags or other actual stacked magazines.

personally, i think that a vertical (small) tank at the very end of the "buttstock" would be quite doable.

also it could be done the same way as the realsteel AK bullpups have been made. (some of the models) simply used a steel rod to relay the trigger with the "old" trigger.

something like this:

i would think that using some of the tacamo kits and an e-trigger this would be quite an easy mod?

So like, something along these lines?

oops forgot the mag release. Anyways the idea is there. Cool thing about the tank location is that you can plug a remote line in there without needing any kind of special stock or mods.

What if you put the air tank on the front? It'd have to be a 13ci, but that'd probably work ok? Maybe hidden in a faux grenade launcher?

That looks like it could hold an air tank.

It's a good idea for the milsim look.

Just means it ends up longer, and front heavy. The idea with bullpups is that they are compact - take the apex barrel off the one above and you can see how compact:

I'm seeing cool designs...if I had access to a machine shop like I did last year, I'd make one of these. The hardest part I think will be putting the firing can or bolt at the back of the action. Even if the valve is in front of the hammer and the air has to travel backwards then forwards, it would be a hard system to engineer. But it'd be fun!
And the vertical HPA tank was something I hadn't even thought about.
We need to get someone on this!

The firing action goes right to the back - the tank is under the back of the receiver, not behind it.

A faux grenade launcher could hold the tank with an exposed fill nipple to fill the tank while its in place. One side could have an on/off lever the other with an enlonged fill nipple.

Or could be built into fore grip. Not vertical fore grip but horizontal.

I took the idea of a foregrip tank and made it into a 3D rendering.
vijil has his medium, I have mine...
It's very rough, meaning no mag release buttons, charging handles, or many cosmetic details, but you get the feel of the marker. The dimensions are taken from different markers, the overall length is 23" and it's 10.5" high. The barrel is a 7/8" OD, so you can judge by that.

Again, I omitted a lot of chamfers and fillets and other cosmetic and ergonomic details in order to get the shape outlined. I built in a maximum firing can length of 3" before the chamber, which would be plenty. The foregrip would be hinged like in the 2nd picture to expose the tank's fill nipple. The player would also be able to remove parts of the shroud permanently to see the gauge, flip the fill nipple, or install other components like remotes and inline regulators.

Bullpups Rock!

Nice render 2nyka

I've built two mag fed bullpups myself. One off an Ion design and one off a TPX. Both work, but both have downsides since i built them myself. But they are fun, and a company with a decent R&D budget should be able to come up with something pretty decent.

I'm pretty certain the K1 is now just vaporware.

But heres mine:
The bullpup TPX:

And the bullpup ION (top) and a shorter TPX bullpup model (still a work in progress)

The Ion has an adjustable stock, so it's total length with a 16" barrell is 24.5" to 27" It uses Rap4 and Milsig Mags, and probably scarab arms mags too. I made a special mags with a q-loader too. It runs a 12gram or a remote.
I thought about putting a vertical tank at the back, but I wanted the adjustable stock on this design, so that idea went out. The tank out front is a good idea, but the hoses are a bit ungainly and a weak point for breaking. A manifold would be the way to do this.

The BTPX-C is 21" with a 14.5" barrell, the L model is 23" with a 16" barrel" and takes standard tpx mags. Runs 12g, could run remote, just haven't fitted it yet.

In my mind, Spool or automag designs are the best setups for this. The spool model is nice because it can run hoses to a trigger 3-way and be mechanical (like mine) or use a board and be elctro and gain the benefit of automatic and eyes. The automag design is nice because it's a smaller setup.

And Vijil, that is a really cool concept drawing! I really want to try and build that!!!

I checked out your site Vijil, and that is some cool work! I am a sucker for sci fi art, and the alien and spaceship art just made me hungry for more!

Sorry to get off topic.
