Why is football the most widely played sports in america

Because it takes no talent.

Let me start off by saying that I watch football and enjoy it a lot. I just want to point out that Americans are lazy *******s, we make ourselevs look bad because we can't partake in a traditional sport that takes a lot of skill.

Lets face it, anyone who is big can be good at football. It doesn't require much talent to perfect; except for a few positions. If you require the skill and dedication to perfect football and compare it to other sports, it pales in comparison.

Its ****ing sad that we take the easy way out.

I wouldn't say it takes no talent, it just takes a more specific, and less broad specialization of skills.

You're giving an intelligent response to a troll thread.

No its not a troll thread, it really doesn't take a lot of talent compared to other sports. Think about it, its more instinctive more than anything, you chase after a man with a ball and hit him. I know thats a generalized statement but really thats what its about.

Think twice before you claim me as trolling. I have a different opinion on it, doesn't mean im trolling ****head.

Since when is talent quantitative? That's an entirely subjective statment and one that you can't support at all.

Depends what position and what you define talent as.

Also, can we stop with the whole "dumb stupid american" thing, its such a joke. Virtually every western population is exactly the same.

Talent is something I define as honing a skill. For instance, practicing something over and over until you master it. Football is instinctive. I mean if you're big it doesn't take a lot of practice to know how to hit someone; you do it with ease from the beginning.

Some positions in football require talent, but most do not.

Then is the number of professional football players so slim? Put an average 6'5'' 300 lbs guy to protect a QB and let's see how well he does. Every position takes talent and skill.

I was going to try and debate with you in a civil manner, then I read that statement and came to the conclusion that you're either trolling or incredibly, incredibly ignorant. Either way, I'm out. Peace.

So what you're saying is that you have no clue what football is?

Only someone who hasn't played the game would say that.

You can't just hit someone though. You have to learn the proper technique, proper footwork, you have to be in the right spot to hit them (play recognition) etc

being big, fast, and strong are all talents too.

Sadly, true. I'm a huge fan of both sports and I don't think they are the antithesis of each other, for that matter. Never really understood why people get so butthurt about people not liking soccer.

I agree with OP. Anybody else going to the combines next year? I'm 6'3", 200... So I'll probably start somewhere at WR.
