drone or drone dx? Either is very good at their price point and even above.

You don't need to use their brand of lubricant (they just recommend it), and there is also nothing wrong with LED "programming".

Trigger comments are subjective.

He's asking for opinions. They're all subjective. LED programming is fine if you're competent, but don't ask people on the field to help you with programming unless you have a manual handy and some patience. Changing on the fly depends on your memory. I know when I practice we often switch from ramping to semi depending on the drill and paint situation. That's harder to do with LED.

I also think Dow33 is acceptable on these markers, but the first thing anybody posts on here in response to a problem is, "Did you use militia lube?" Like that's the source of all problems.

OP I realized I had posted in your other thread. As far as features, the Drone dx has many features comparable to other mid level guns. The etek's, etha, axe, and many others have LED programming. It is also relatively easy to use unless you are switching back and forth constantly for some reason. I personally always have my gun in the mode I play events in so its a call you can make. The clone board is an upgrade option that has the OLED and all. As for the parts, cs, trigger and lube comments, they are all opinions and the best way to get multiple opinions is to read as many threads and reviews as possible to get a less biased view. ANS now carries the drone dx and I believe the gt so parts should be easy to come by.

My take:

Pros:
Mechanical performance exceeds price point - The blowforward spool design of this gun performs on par (IMO better) than geos (geo3 excluded)
Simplicity - Very few orings for a spool... no LPR either
Ergonomics - I love the HPR to grip spacing on MacDev guns
Consistent - The VX reg on these are extremely consistent (however, I don't use one)
Efficiency - It is pretty decent for a spool, albeit not quite as good as the clone

Cons:
Parts availability - MacDev is not carried at many fields, so if something goes down you may want a back-up. (In my experience regs/ reg seats, etc are the main parts to fail so either buy spares or change the HPR. I put a low pressure Violent Series SL3 reg on my clone and I love it.)
Noise - It is a little loud for a spool
Stock trigger - MacDev makes absolute garbage triggers... a Violent Scythe or critical trigger is a must have IMO

The LED programming is pretty much par for the price range (or in Dye's case any price range).

I have heard nothing but good things about drones, but in my opinion, I would just get a used droid. Its probably going to end up being cheaper, and its also going to be noticeably quieter, smoother, and more efficient. But if you would prefer to buy something new and under warranty, the drone is an excellent choice.

<sarcastic *ss mode>I would never recommend a macdev product on this (sub) forum</sarcastic *ss mode>

It's an easy to maintain, efficient, somewhat loud (compared to the clone) spool marker, without oled display with a performance almost equal to the geo2. For a mid-level marker on the expensive side, but not for what you get.

I recommend Macdev as a whole, what gun within this company depends on wants and your budget.

Used my Clone-boarded Drone DX for the first time over the weekend. +/-4fps, very smooth and relatively quiet. I highly recommend it.

If you are in the money nothing beats a Clone GT. The Drone DX is a fine marker i have never shot one but I own a Clone GT. MacDev makes very good markers.

My drone DX eats batteries like crazy. But other then that if your use to LED programming it pretty easy to use and has nice, bright, easy to see colors on the led. The stock trigger is good but I've always loved violent product triggers(so I got one for my drone DX). Stock barrel is nice but paints been running small for me lately so I've been using a freak kit.

Over all great gun for the price and if you want an oled screen/board you can upgrade to the clone board/grip from Macdev for around $120?? I think
