Yeah, its front page on DPReview as well. Personally, I think they'll be fantastic lenses, if you got the $$ to put up for em, despite their ties to Sony or whoever.

There are actually coming out with 2 different mount types. They are coming out with an Nilon F-Mount as well as a mount that is pretty universal with an adapter so you will be able to use them for canon as well.

yeah but the M-42 uni. lens mount takes away alot of the functionality as far as functions like metering and stuff like that.

And yes, of course it works on the DSLR's. BTW: Zeiss is manufacturing these lenses themselves, not lending out their quality standards. So the lenses will be quality, you can be assured. They also said they were going to be competitive with the prices nikon has for their high-end lenses now. I'll probabaly pick up a zeiss f/1.4 85mm since I need an 85 and wouldn't mind shelling out the extra dough to see how the zeiss lens is.

You are going to pay up the *** for ANYTHING zeiss, and most people here, including myself are nowhere near the experience level to own a Zeiss. Its like a 16 year old with a Formula 1 racer.

did you read at all? They said their prices will be competitive w/ all leading nikkor lenses. So they are going to be a thousand dollars and up probabaly (probabaly less for the 50 and the 85), but you get what you pay for with a lens.

Yes I read it, but to the average idiot who is gonna know the difference between a shot taken with a Zeiss, or a midgrade Canon? I'll tell you. No one except for you. Like I said, an ameteur with a Zeiss is like a 16 year old with a race car. You just don't need to be breaking the bank on something that extravegent. If I had the money to get Zeiss lenses, you can bet your life that I would, BUT who among us has a grand and up for lenses?

The news IS exciting...don't get me wrong.

This isn't a fair comparison, take the shots of the same thing under the same light conditions, from the same perspective with different lenses.

Exactly, without knowing what was done with PP of these pictures it is impossible. I have no way of knowing if there was an unsharp mask done to it.

I was also raising my hand to the comment about who has the money for these lenses.

For the money thing, atleast with credit... and a means to pay off credit cards reasonably

While none of my current lenses cost that much, some that will be in my bag by the end of the year will.

Still not gonna get "Pro" glass, thats more than I am willing to pay and not viable to carry more than one from place to place.

Why all the *****ing because you can't afford the lense? If they sell it at a high price, its obviously not being marketed for someone with your budget.
