I don't use this website ever, but after what I watched on Sunday, I had to give my honest review of what I saw.
Before any accusations are made of myself being biased, I did not play in the event, I only watched.
I like the idea of this tournament. I like the music, the intensity, the format, the funny announcer, and pretty much the environment. What I didn't like, however, was the teams who were cheated out of their money for two main reasons...
First reason, the sandbagging. This tournament is a DIVISION 4 TOURNAMENT, yet I watched a division 2 player out there grinding on true division 4 players. I asked someone about this and they told me that the rules state that a team could roster one division 3 or division 2 player. Division 2 player? Thats complete BS. No tournament format should be able to roster someone TWO DIVISIONS above what the actual tournament is. There were also a number of players ranked higher in NPPA standings as well out there playing against real d4 players. I know that is one of the problems with separate ranking systems, however it is still BS and pathetic in many others including myself's opinion. I do give my respect to San Diego Reign though. They are a true division 4 team and had an awesome performance all day. They deserved that first place spot on the podium. If any of you guys from Reign are reading this, props to you.
Second reason, the referees. Wow, I think that is the WORST REFEREE CREW I HAVE SEEN IN YEARS. Were some of the calls just and fair? Absolutely. But the amount of BS calls I saw was unbelievable. The outcome of that tournament would've been much different if there weren't a bunch of idiots put in referee jerseys. I saw good, fair players being called on 1 for 1s and 2 for 1s for OLD HITS THAT WERE DRIED AND/OR WIPED! They were incredibly lazy too. A few times I witnessed the ref closest to the air station ignore players for paint checks and then call majors on them for having a hit on their pack. It was painful to watch and I genuinely feel sorry for the true players who were cheated out of their games for this ref crews laziness and stupidity. Many people feel they were so flag happy because they were trying to make points go by faster. At least thats what someone overheard.
This series could be very successful. Like I said, the idea is in the right place. But until the sandbagging is cured as well as a better, honest ref crew is put in place, it won't last. I know a lot of those teams won't be returning for the next event, especially based off the responses people had after the event. In no way am I posting this to hate, I don't believe I know anyone running this event, but you guys need to understand what most of the players are feeling. Until these things are fixed, my team and many others won't be participating. I know it may not mean anything, but it should show the perspectives of a lot of people. It just needs fixing.

Thanks for your feedback.
If you read the rules on the first post of this thread, we state that d4 may have (1) d3 or d2 player. If any teams that participated in the tournament had a problem with it, it was never brought up to us. At this event we had (1) d2 player and the team did not win the event. As far as sandbagging, we use APPA for our ranking system and nothing else.
In regards to our referees -- all of our referees are trained PSP/NPPL vets that have been in the sport for years. We have been using these same refs all year with no problems. We didn't have any complaints at the event. As we all know, refereeing an event is not an easy task. As in any sport with refs, there will be good calls and bad calls. We stand behind our refs 110%.
We feel our tournament is an excellent value - a great tournament experience, great competition, great price. We're not going anywhere.
Again, we appreciate your feedback and hope to see your team at one of our events.

That team with the d2 player hasn't won in tha past two events. Also name a leauge that doesn't have a sandbagged team? Reffing had a few bad calls but with the low cost of the event it's to be expected.
