Exclamation Action Markers info thread!

In attempt to put everything together into one nice bundle for all the people asking questions about these guns, I gathered up these links to sites with information on Action Markers and it's products.

Action Markers website- (Got updated! )

www.actionmarkers.com

The Sentinel-

http://www.paintmagazine.com/cgi-bin...um=1&thread=10

http://www.pbreview.com/1214/1/0/

Having Blowback and Chopping Problems?
See Below:
What's with the faulty valve pin?
It's a little bit too short and has some problems with blow-back up the feed tube when using a high pressure air source (800psi tank or co2).

Should and how would I get mine switched?
First check for blowback. Place a piece of toilet paper over the feed tube and see if it gets blown up, if it does then you should get it. To switch it you just unscrew the velocity adjuster housing and replace the old one with the new one.

What are the problems associated with a bad one?
Blow back up the feed tube, which causes chopping.

Which serial numbers have the bad pins?
Not sure on this, but your gun doesn't have the new one.
Go to the post that is titled "Sentinel Owners with chopping issues " and follow the direction. I would email Crash_stp or talk to him on AIM.

Optimal Operating Presure for Old Valve Pins:500-550psi
This varies from marker to marker. The TS will operate at other presures and it will work without a secondary regulator or CO2 but to get the best efficency, and consistency from your TS it should be run at around 550psi. Recomended by Crash_STP

Optimal Operating Presure for Newer Valve Pins: 800 psi
The newer valve pins were made somewhere around Spring/Summer 2003 and featured a shorter to help eliviate the blowback problems some people were having with the longer valve pins. The new pins were made and designed to run around 800psi, and they will not perform as good at lower presures like the older style pin would do.

Optimal Operating Presure for Low Presure Valve Pins: 350 psi
The Low Presure Valve Pin is a new valve pin made by Action Markers in responce of owners wanting to run their Sentinels at lower presure. Action Markers recomends an operating presure of approximately 350 psi.

*The above presures will vary with every marker setup*

Trigger Pull Length: 6-7 mm.
It varies a little bit. It can easily be modified down to 4-5mm. When you first get your TS the trigger pull might seem a tad "Stiff" but it just needs to be broken-in and it should lighten up and smooth out after that. To reduce the length of the trigger pull you need to remove the "overtravel" on the front of the pull. This can be done by having the trigger tapped for a set screw above the safety or trigger spring area. Or you can improvise with other materials (electrical tape, jb weld, etc.). Basicly you are making it so that the top of the trigger hits the body earlier so the trigger will not go as far forward as normal. Just don't adjust the trigger back to far or you can't fire the marker. You can also replace the trigger (not the sear) spring with a cut and possibly stretched pin spring to lighten the pull just a little bit. Play around with different springs to find what you like the best. Also I believe Action Markers can custom Tap your trigger for set screws if you do not feel capable of doing it yourself, or any semi-knowledgeable pro-shop should be able to do the same.

Electronic Trigger Frame: None right now
Good info on the right here. E-force pirahna frames will work w/ some milling and shims on the TS but this should only be done by an expeirenced person. AM has made a prototype. The best frames to use is Centerflag hyperframes made for an Inferno they are also the easiest to adapt. Now a kit is made to Convert the Sentinel to the Diadem basicly.

Note on Ball Detents:
Lately (Dec. 2003 - Jan. 2004) I have heard a few stories of the Ball coming out of the Ball Detents on Sentinel and Diadem, and I have expeirenced this myself. I am not sure whether this is a problem with the detents or maybe a bad batch or probably just bad luck. On my sentinel when you had the bolt removed and looked down the bolt tube you could see that one Ball Detent was clearly sticking out further than the other, and that is usually the one that comes out.

Now if your ball falls out of your ball detent and your are lucky enough to save all three peices (detent body, spring, and ball) then you can reassemble then or if your detent is still together you can adjust the ball in by setting the detent on a hard flat surface, ball side up, and taking a hammer with a flat smooth metal face and lightly hitting or tapping the detent. Be careful not to put it too far in because you can't undue this adjustment and it is probably not recommended or covered by Action Markers.

re

Actually the bore size is more like .695 on the stock barrel. I checked it with calipers.

It's going to vary a little. I got .692 when I checked my stock barrel with a caliper.

Valve Pin Length

Length of old valve pin: Roughly 2.7cm
Length of new valve pin: Roughly 2.4cm

If these measurements are off, PM me and I will make sure to fix them.

This can be used as a quick way to check if you have the new valve pin.
Remeber: Not everyone needs the new pin, but you should definitley get it IF you are chopping or have other blow-back related problems.

Poor 12gram Performance

If you are having problems getting at least 30 shots/12 gram, simply turn the fps adjustment screw all the way in, then slowly turn it out until the desired fps is reached. If switching from a tank to 12g without re-adjustment, too much air will be drained out of the cartridge with each shot, due to the output pressure difference between a tank and 12 grams. I was only getting roughly 15 shots per 12 until Crash STP showed me the drill. Thanks guys.

Cool Website changes mad easy!

Just to clarify to anyone trying to use old links directly to an Action Markers page, the site structure has changed! (sorry guys)

to find the manuals on the site, try: http://www.actionmarkers.com/Manuals/manuals.htm
that should get you all the manual information you need. The .pdf's are no longer online, but you can bookmark directly to the information you need.

Is the sentinel compatible in terms of a valve? maybe if it accepted a spyder tornado valve efficiency could be boosted with the new low pressure upgrade you guys made

As far as I know, nothing made for spyders will fit on a Sentinel (Thank goodness). Although, if you were inclined to try, I'm sure we would all be interested to know what you did and how it worked out. But that would be kind of like getting a new muffler for your Porche from Wal-Mart.

I'll try to find the diameter of that part, and you can see if the Spyder one will fit in its place.

I'm not a fan for spyders....or clones...at all, just wondering though, since this is a sort of low end stacked tube open bolt...it might have been, and the Tornado valve is a very exceptional valve it might increase efficiency and drop op pressure even more with the new LP upgrade kit. I'm also guessing the low pressure chamber isn't compatible with anything else either right?

That is right. All but the "low-end stacked tube" bit. It's definitley in the low-end price range, but I've seen Angels that are put together more shotty out of the box.

Dont' make the mistake (and I'm not saying that you are) that a stacked tube open bolt system is by nature a low end design. The Senti's are incredible peices of machines. I've seen teh spec sheets (the ones they use to run the machines) and the tolerances are insane. +- .001 inches in many places. Most $800 + markers need a few hundred dolars extra poured into tham to make them work with the same efficiency and accuracy of a Senti out of the box.

And with the Diadem release iminent, this stacked-tube open-bolt blowback will be the baddest thing out there, with a price that blows everything else out of the water. And before you ask, I have not heard any plans for a release of the Diaden Kit for Spyders or clones. It would be a wast of money, in my oppinion, to do the reserch.

And now I'll climb down off of my soap-box and go back home.

"sort of" I put it that in so you guys wouldn't stone me, but....I wasn't going to say mid or high end. Like I said I'm not a fan of spyders, so I wouldn't be interested if AM made an electro-pneumatic kit for spyders, I can already do it anyways. But huge credit to AM for making the kit for Sentinels. However, accuracy is nothing more than paint to barrel match and consistency. I do not know a good range for efficiency for the Sentinel, but I'm guessing stock running on compressed air it can't be as great as guns that are $800....or just guns...with better efficiency.... I'm not bashing Sentinels, never intended to in case if that's how you see it. Seeing as how they are a blowback design, $800 guns like Vikings and Bushys ($510 for the 2k3 pds version) would heavily outweigh the Sentinel in efficiency. Vikings get 1800 out of a 68/4500 stock, not even broken in, and when it's broken in it gets even more. B2k3's get 1200 or so on a 68/4500 stock. And with $200 or so it could get 2000. But anyways, does the Low Pressure Kit for the Sentinel increase efficiency significantly

Maybe ask someone to convert it into .pdf or simply email AM at info@actionmarkers.com and ask to make all their manuals in .pdf format to download.
