No, there's no mods you need to do, but since the Trilogy Sport is a higher pressure gun, you need a reg that will output at least 500psi. (I've found that 500psi is about where a Trilogy Sport runs best.)
A lot of regs have a maximum output of 500psi, so they aren't the best choices. Cp regs, for example, work, but they have to be turned all the way up.
Right now I'm using an Evil Detonator reg on mine, and it works wonderfully. (Shoots +/-2fps over the chrono if I underbore with good paint - can't really ask for better than that.)
Other examples of regs that would work great are Palmer's Stabilizers and AKA regs, plus they are the best regs on the market.
Honestly, having used my Prostock with a pump kit and my Trilogy with a pump kit - there is virtually no performance difference between the two. My Trilly with a pump kit is just as smooth as any pump I've shot, much, much smoother than a Phantom or SL-68, for example. I also improved mine by half-blocking it. It took a very noticable amount of weight off the gun, and looks nicer. It's not a beautiful gun by any means, but it's a workhorse. And when I play pump, I play aggressively and don't have time to baby a $600 gun. My $.02...
