Sell the gun and buy a tippmann, you can throw that thing in a lake for three years pull it out, and it still won't chop a ball. Now only if I could do that with my DM lol.

If you're having barrel breaks, you might need to upgrade to a better barrel.

or a better marker. Tippmans are the best for the newb level markers, if your not looking to be really serious about paintball then get a tippman. if you are looking to commit to it with the higher tech stuff then get an electro such as a mini or axe. If you want mechanical then stick with tippman. Automags are amazing but for a more experienced and techy crowd. And then theres cockers which if you have trouble with a spyder right now then you will be as intelligent as a preschooler with. But no matter what get rid of the spyder.

The spyder is fine.....all he needed were working detents. No gun works without functional detents.

I will say this though, the tippmann detents last a LONG time. The spyder ones need to be cleaned or replaced regularly(depending on the type), especially if you're breaking paint.

Both need the same lubing and cleaning and I dare say the spyder will come apart in seconds where as the tippy's can be a pain. You won't need to take the tippy's apart as often as the spyders though....so maintenance wise they're about the same.

Either spyder or tippman will work greatly with routine maintenance. I prefer teching a spyder versus a tippman, but that said the above statement about the tippy in the lake is 100% the truth. When I was a newb I watched a guys gun poo the bed and he stepped in a mud puddle and discovered a gun was down in it. He then slapped his tank and loader on it and it shot the rest of the game.

There should not be a significant difference in performance at PSP vs Millennium. Unless your loader is feeding too fast, switching from semi to a mode like PSP/Millennium will likely increase the amount of ball breaks due to a higher rate of fire and more chances of chopping per second.

I was thinking the same thing.. Is it cold where you are playing or warm? I play with players who are using old summer paint instead of winter fill paint and it is freezing where I am and they are shooting paint that breaks in the barrel and chops, but doesn't do anything when it hits another player. Make sure you aren't using old paint either and that your barrel is the proper size for the paint. If the paint is to small or big that could also cause the problem!

I had this issue around 7 years ago when I owned a Spyder. Don't what type of barrel you have, but the stock barrel that came with me had a "one size fits all" plastic insert. You need that or you'll chop paint for days.

I remember when they had those. It didn't last very long lol. Horrible idea......people just lost them and it made the gun useless.

Re: Chop

In my experience with this marker velocity usually is the main culprit to chopping paint. On a side note, Tourney paint will chop at anything above 275FPS in this marker.

Many factors can apply such as paint to bore match, the bolt of the gun, speed of the loader, ect. Need more info.
