Nationals are done. Put a fork in them. They might make the wild card round, but they'll fold like a cheap suit.

Why's that?

Also, Tyler Skaggs is dominating so far in Reno, in the PCL. Today 7 IP, 2 H, 0 runs, 3 BB, 9 SO. So far in six starts he has an ERA of 1.73. If Bauer can get it under control this team will be stacked with pitching soon enough. I believe Pat Corbin will be at least a decent starter, plus Skaggs, Bauer, Kennedy, Wade Miley, Trevor Cahill, etc. Their bullpen is somehow the best in MLB this year as well.

Because somehow Ross Detwiler is the Nationals best pitcher. Bryce Harper can't hit a barn. Gio is looking like a number 4 in the second half. Stras looks gassed. The bullpen is falling apart.

On the other hand, Jordan Zimmermann is making a push for Cy Young. Number 1 ERA in all of baseball. Won pitcher of the month for July.

Still, with the Braves surging and the Nats looking like garbage, it's only a matter of time.

Rangers won their 3rd in a row. I know that's not much, but we have been pretty terrible as of late.

Historically, Gio is a first half pitcher.

Both Zimmerman(n)s are playing out of their minds right now. Jordan Zimmermann was pitcher of the month for July.

Since his cortisone shot at the end of June, Ryan Zimmerman is hitting .366/.435/.718 and is probably playing some of the best defense of his career.

They aren't the problem. It's everyone else. Harper is barely hitting above .250 because, for whatever reason, he's abandoned his approach to the plate and can't lay of breaking stuff low and away. Strasburg looks tired and he's losing his composure. Not surprising considering that he's pretty much a rookie.

But the main concern is the bullpen. I thought when Storen came back that it would be even better. Instead, somehow, it's gotten worse.

Couple all that with the Braves suddenly figuring out how to play baseball and the Nats are doomed

Yeah, idk I don't follow the Nats all that closely, but they've got a solid squad and I still think they'll make a decent postseason impact.

Btw cortisone shots are incredibly painful, probably worse than tearing my MCL and meniscus lol

I know. Zimmerman really had no choice. It was that or the 60 Day DL. He literally could not get to 91-92 mph fastballs on the outside. Chen through him about 8 in a row and the best he could do was weakly foul them off.

Pretty much

BTW, for those of you wondering why Harper was so talked about and Trout really wasn't, that's why. Trout couldn't do that at 19 in the bigs

Bryce won't be doing what Trout is doing in a year.

dude trout is a beassst. both haper and trout are insane, the only upside IMO to Harper is his amazing contact (I swear every ball he hits is a missle) and his arm strength. go for go I would say trout is more athletic though.

and back to contract killer, the MLB teams do have to put in "bids" to even try to talk with Japan players (darvish for ex.) and then negotiate with the player. so FYI know what your talking about before you go and call someone out again.

I think you're just so high on Harper because he's a National.

Trout is unbelievable. .350 with at least 18 homers. Plus he has very good speed. And I don't even think he was playing everyday at the beginning of the season
