Greensboro.
He still plays regularly at PBC and played the last two seasons with Mayhem, a D1 team organized by Rob Staudinger.

If that's your theory you should let the NPPL know to invest in a new Marketing Department. They essentially alienated 99.5% of their clientele that would possibly compete in this event. Not really a sound business/marketing strategy when you need to get as much Pub as possible.

in the WCPPL and msxl you can come out slightly ahead if you are a local team. I dont play paintball for the money at all, but its nice to at least come somewhat close to breaking even.

The sport won't die, just the NPPL. Good riddance.

I really hate when people say things like this, because it is just so ***-backwards compared to how the rest of the world operates. Oh, one of the leagues is a pile of ****? Keep supporting it guys, for the sport. Oh, your local store has a crappy selection and significantly higher prices on all products? You need to keep buying from them, for the sport.
No, a ****ty "me-too" league like the NPPL needs to be driven into the ground, not propped up again and again.

Agreed 100%. Support the people and companies and shops that do it the RIGHT WAY, don't support sub-par organizations because of some misguided allegience to "the sport".

The price of a tournament gun went from $1,500 to $500.
Participation dropped.
Paint margins went to nothing.
The manufacturers realized that tournament teams didn't attract new customers, they ARE the customers.
When one more guy buying a tournament gun added $1,000 to the bottom line instead of $100, it made a lot more sense for the industry to invest money in getting more tournament guys - you basically paid for bigger prize packages with higher gun prices, and those higher gun prices were supported by the new technology in the guns.
Now that all guns shoot faster than you need them to, the prices are much lower - which also means much less money to support prize packages.
Put another way, the industry used to take 10% (I'm just picking a number here) of their margin back into supporting tournament teams/leagues. Today, they still put 10% back - it's just that it's 10% of a much smaller number.

Not sure where you read that. Link?
I haven't seen anything to suggest that thus far. The OP says D4 is still 5 man.

judging how the rpl is a feeder league into the nppl, it would seem rather stupid that they dont follow the same format... no?

No, not really when you consider that the season starts in less than a month and the NPPL hasn't released anything saying that D4 will be playing 7 man.
I'd take what reps from the league you're questioning have or haven't said over what someone posted in a thread on PBNation and I'd also avoid being confrontational when someone is trying to help you.
The RPL might be a feeder to the NPPL, but that doesn't mean that they follow everything that NPPL does to the letter. The CFOA is a feeder series to the PSP but we don't use the race to 2 format. We run the traditional 5 man by points system because that's what our audience is calling for.
Just to be clear, let it be noted that I am not a representative of the CFOA, rather a player speaking my own opinions. I simply say we for clarity sake.

Paintball News Rules |
- No Upping threads. If you have something to say, please do, but don't post in the thread just to take it to the top of the forum.
- Do not post "1st post", "1st", "First post" or anything similar (or with any other number) at any point in a thread, even if you post a comment too. It is really annoying and it will result in a ban.
- If you don't like something, say why instead of just calling it ugly, lame, gay or any other name. If it is old, simply post a link or report the post with a link to the older News thread.
- Please don't post links for places to buy items. That encourages stores, sponsored players and other people to do it and spam the site.
If you have questions, please post them in the Talk to Mods/Admins forum.
