Work is dead today. Only had 3 cars and 1 of them with a full 3m package.

How long do most of you get for a basic delivery time wise?

If that's to me no. I get between 1-2 hours to do wash, wax, windows, full interior detail, wheels and wheel wells, engine, and if there are any major paint defects, that too.

I just did the "platinum package" today on a new 2500 ram. That includes all of the above, plus rust proof and sound proofing the underside of the car as well as vynal/fabric protectant which IMO is a hoax. They charge 800 bucks for about 2 hours of work and 50 bucks.

If you are doing all of that in 1-2 hours, that car must look like its covered in dicks. To correctly polish a hood alone, It takes 30-45 mins.

Seriously. I spend at least a whole day taking care of my car.

That doesn't mean I do the whole car, just isolated problems.

Any car that is in real bad shape they will give me extra time. And no the cars I do don't look like they are covered in dicks when I'm finished with them

Oh, excuse my ignorance, why not hit it with some wax without claying it? While your at it, hit it with a nice orbital polisher to apply the wax so you can spin that contaminated paint surface into some nice custom ghost swirls.

I just don't understand how you could do a decent detail with that amount of time. Wash alone takes me roughly two hours and I am only doing a sedan.

Then again, I'm doing this at home, in a driveway, constantly messing with hoses and moving buckets, etc. When I do a full detail, it's at least a 6-8 hour ordeal. If I polish? 1-2 days.

What? It only takes me 45 minutes to an hour to wash/dry my car; in a driveway, messing with hoses and moving buckets. Then again, I'm usually in the sun, so I try to get the car washed/dried as quickly as possible to avoid the water air drying onto my car.

A complete washup on a dirty car, including cleaning the motor usually takes me 45mins-1hr15min(man hours, I have an employee)

At a dealership they don't give you much time to do a detail, though 1-2 hours is definitely an "express" kind of job. There's the other end of the spectrum too, 8 hrs for an exterior is uncommon in a lot of areas. Around here, My average "full detail" is around 5-6 hours, and includes a wash, clay, 1 step polish (usually IP), paint sealant and full interior.

You have to do the detail according to what the customer wants/is willing to pay. In my area, they usually aren't willing to pay for 10+hr details

I'm ~2 weeks into my opti-coat 2.0 testing, and this stuff is the ****. I applied it to my new wheels and my wheels bead up better than my paint. The brake dust can't stick to it, and wipes right off.

I might check that out. Currently still working with UC/UP and it's pretty nice.

I really need to invest into a higher end polisher

I had wash/polish/wax my car. I washed/polished (ICE detailer) the other day, but haven't waxed it yet. Maybe tomorrow or Saturday if it's nice out.

You guys are all retards for saying that all of that cannot be done in an hour.

We get an hour for most cars and I have to take off the stickers, clean the windows, clean engine bay and gas lid, wash, dry, usually buff every hood on dark cars and then send it through our auto butler finally tire shine. Forgot about vacuuming and installing floor mats.

Remember these are new cars... Most come with sap or scratches but if its bad we are given more time.

Definitely get rid of that ICE. BOOOOOOOOOO

Haha yeah I zip through new cars. Usually when they just come off the truck, unless they are bad, I'll just body shine the paint and clean the windows, shine tires, engine bay, touch up rims and add stickers. 45-1hr flat. But we get super trashed used cars on trade in. I can't believe some of the stuff I see in these cars. Those are the ones that are a PITA

I usually spend at least 5-6 hours on used cars we get at auction/trade-in...

Steam/extract/scrub (depending on what's wrong) all the upholstery, clean/condition/possibly repair leather, high pressure air for under/between everything/all the nooks and crannies (waaaay easier than detail brushes) wash/dry/paint correction if needed, full wipe down/cleaning of all the trim. More if interior needs any dye work/trim replacement.
