Hi Jack and Nicky, i play at National Paintball fields and thanks for the look at the SL that was there the other month. My question is this, we use A-Ballls (re-balls) but the FPS has to be around 210, will the new kit get near this...?

The original revision to the GR2 kit was a great improvement. I can only imagine this to be another great step, in the right direction
Looking forward to it

The ST kit will include spacers that can be used to partially fill the air chamber in the body/bolt kit.
As the Geo shoots from a fixed volume of air rather than free-flowing for as long as the bolt is forwards, reducing the volume of air stored in the bolt kit reduces the amount of air that can be released with each shot (the *actual* amount of air released can be different to the amount stored in the bolt kit, as your dwell setting may be such that not all the air is released..... but that's another story altogether). That will tend to lead to lower velocities.
So by reducing the volume of stored air, you can keep your dwell and operating pressure up - which ensures cycling reliability and reduces the likelihood of bolt stick - but still end up with lower velocity.

Ok now I want the new bolt ..... I may get burned for saying this but im not a fan of the new gun every year... If you get a lexus you dont have to worry about a way better body style the next year... If you get a new M3 it super cool but next year a way sicker new M3 comes out and yours is just an old M3... Just my thoughts but at the same time i do love when the new stuff does come out!!!!! so ya what ru gonna do =)

Uziel gave you the long answer, I will give you the short:
Yes
The kit has two "haf" inserts. Each one drops the velocity approx 25-30fps.
Put both in, and you'll drop from 280fps to 220fps with exactly the same inline reg setting.

We have been beta testing the new kit for some time now and have nothing but positive things to say about it...here is my quick rundown:
1. Sound signature - this (for me) was the biggest improvement. we are a 24hr scenario team, so as I have posted elsewhere, we want a mix of loud intimidating EGOs and super quiet GEOs...this kit gave us the latter. We ran decibel tests and while i dont remember the exact numbers, just trust me it was a big improvement. I have put my GEO next to shockers, DMs, IONs and other guns and it was quieter than all of them....and the more the kit breaks in the quieter it gets.
2. Smoothness - the new kit definitely smooths it out right out of the box. by the time i had put it in my gun, my stock parts already had about 100,000 rounds thru it, so they were pretty smooth by that point too...but for those who just can't seem to get over the break-in period, this kit will impress...very nice buttery-smooth action.
3. Gentle on paint - the GEO remains the softest gun on paint that i have ever seen...never chopped or broke a ball with the stock parts and have not chopped or broken a ball with the new kit either...now i will say that i shot probably the worst paint I have ever used in 20 years of paintball this past month and it STILL shot like a champ. The new bolt i think breaks up the impact of air on the ball to provide a nice cushion...for those that have not seen what the bolt looks like, you will understand when you see it...similar to the old venturi hypothesis.
4. Volume Reducers - are absolutely awesome. I believe the kit will come with 2 that form a cylinder around the back of the prop shaft. since night games require a velocity of 250 max, we had the same problem reball users had...which is that the inline reg needed a bit more pressure to operate consistently and without drop off than a velocity of 250 or below would allow for. The VR allows you to shoot ropes at low velocity with no drop off or sputtering.
When I set my velocity at approx 280 for daytime play, all I have to do is put 1/2 of the kit on the prop shaft and i am immediately at 245-250 without a single adjustment. This saves sooooo much time, energy, paint and frustration when i get to the chrony. Put the full kit in and you will get dramatically lower velocity...we have never needed both halves of the kit.
Oh and BTW - the new bolt/can along with the velocity at 250 is so quiet you'd think there's a silencer on the gun!
4. efficiency - i had one of the GEOs with excellent efficiency originally...I was getting exactly as advertised by PE out of the box. But I will say that to the extent GEO users are getting varied efficiency - this kit seems to level that out very well...everyone on my Team is getting almost the exact same numbers and we have done various tests using 45/4500, 68/4500, different barrels and paint/bore matches, etc...the numbers always come out relatively the same gun-to-gun. I did notice my new kit required 2 good break-in days for the orings before i got efficiency numbers back where i wanted them...but i was also experimenting with dwell settings at the direction of Jack...so not a very scientific examination of out-of-the-box efficiency. but the good news for all is that regardless, after a case or 2 the numbers should be right where people want them.
Overall, I think that Jack Wood and the PE Team have done a tremendous job responding to players' requests with the GEO thus far. The GR2 kit fixed most of the problems that people had, and the GST kit completes those initial requests by players for a quieter, efficent, smoother spool valve that can also shoot reballs and low velocity.
For those that were not beta-testers...I can just say that you can look forward to a really big improvement, making the GEO even MORE the best paintball gun ever made!!

Well I was going to type a similar post be he pretty much said how I feel about it. The kit is big jump for the GEO. The way it sounds and feels is absolutely amazing. I was shocked when I first shot it and grabbed an allen to adj the FPS and realized that it was shooting 290 FPS already. It sounds and feels like a DM.

My email to Jack a while back
Quote:
So here is what I got:
946 shots off a 68/45 that was sitting right at 4K psi after cooling a while. My dwell is 12.5 and my VVC screw is all the way out.
I got a new tank reg (ninja) and replaced my DXS reg on my tank that was hitting 285fps but the hpr set screw was almost all the way out (all little past flush out of the bottom of the reg) and the new reg jumped my fps to 331 fps so I had to drop my inline pressure by alot, at least 2 full turns in, which I would think was a good thing right?
Anyways my calcs hopefully no errors lol
946 shots from a 68 Cubic Inch 4000 Psi fill shooting at 290 fps +/- 5
946/132(rds per pod) = 7.17 pods per 68/4000 fill
4000psi/946shots = 4.2 psi per shot
4.2 psi per shot X 4500 psi = 1071 shots off of 68/4500 fill
1071 shots per 68/45 fill / 132(rds per pod) = 8.11 pods per 68/4500 fill
Not horrible but may improve with adj the VVC and a little more break in on the new reg spring. I am still amazed at how much of a difference it has made on the sound and feel of the shots by switching to the new bolt and can, Im in love with it, lol.
Let me know if there is any other setting you want me to try.
