arm up or down
What is your opion on running to a bunker with your arm covering the side of your mask or just like normal running? i like to have my arm up because i have gotten bounces that would have been breaks but i've heard some people say its pointless.

Sacrificing the ability to see downfeild and gain insight on the other team's positions, and where they are shooting is never worth the chance that you might get a bounce off a gloved hand. Chances are it will still break on ur hand or even miss your hand completely and still break on ur goggles (I've had that happen before and since stopped throwing a hand infront of my face). Think about it. if ur hand is over ur eyes how are you going to see a stream of paint that you would potentially dive under? Instead ur gunna right right through it and hope you get a bounce of ur gloved hand? get realistic. thats why pros are always looking downfeild when they run, not tunnel vision on their next bunker destination.

Arm Down...running with your arm up slows you down (basic body mechanics). You can't run as fast with your arms up, or in any stationary position, as you can when they are swinging

Exactly, plus as stated before your taking away your ability to see downfield. Putting your arm up for the small chance that your going to get a bounce off of your hand isn't worth the cons that go along with it.

Depends what bunker your going to if your a back/mid player you need head up to locate players, and shoot.
if your frotn you would start running and maybe put a hand up half way to your bunker if your crossing a lane....
then you would get the locals of the other team from your back players.
Its hard to say its worth slowing down to cover your mask when the odds of gettign hit in somewhere other than your mask are greater.

like everyone else says... watching the streams of paint and the team's location is MUCH more important... learn to dodge a stream and you'll be a better player

you always have to be looking down field, they can make a move and your hand is up and you never see it happen

I disagree that having the one hand down and swinging will make you run any faster. You're already not swinging your one arm that's holding your paintball gun which entirely throws off your body mechanics anyway. Running in paintball is not the same as a track sprint.
Anyway, I prefer to look downfield when I run, but it depends on other factors. If you're moving to a different bunker and notice that you're moving at a bad time (someone is watching your lane) I will cover my mask.

Down. More visibility, and better running form.

i picked up the bad habit of doing this when i was 13. i just can't stop, even when im reffing, if i run, the hand is up....
oh, and the reason is not to get a bounce, it's so if a ball were to travel toward your lense, it hits your hand. then you can wipe it off during the dive to the bunker.
