So I checked my balance yesterday and found out that I have more money than I thought. Then today I was thinking that maybe I should buy a laptop.

I'm going with Dell just because I know I can get a cheap one with coupons.

Hardware I would like.

-1GB of RAM
-80GB HD or more
-15.4" Widescreen (or smaller)
-Video Card doesn't matter
-CD/DVD burner
-1.66GHz Core Duo or higher

Now, here's the catch. Is it possible to find one for under $904 US ($1000 CAN)

I was on the www.dell.ca website and couldn't find the ones with Core Duo. They all had Pentium M's. Can someone help me build laptop on the site?

And how hard is it to upgrade RAM in a laptop?

Thanks.

They don't sell it to Canadians. I can't find it on www.dell.ca

Edit: I think I might call Dell and ask them about it.

Ya, found it too. Kinda of sucks though that I'm probably paying more that what you guys are. Anyway, for $989 (before the stupid %14 tax I have to pay because I'm Canadian) I can get the stock model with a 9-cell battery.

Anyone know any coupons I can get with it so I can try and keep it below $1000 after taxes.

Edit: I could probably sell the printer that comes with it for $50 or so too.

The 6400 is better than the E1505 anyway.

Ok, well it turns out that I can buy from Dell.com because my father has a PO Box in Maine so I can just get it sent there and then go pick it up.

Anyway, as for right now I'm configuring laptops on Dell.ca and want to know what you guys think.

Inspiron 640m Dual Core

PROCESSOR Intelź Core™ processor DUO T2050 (2MB Cache/1.60GHz/533MHz FSB)
OPERATING SYSTEM Genuine Windowsź XP Home
LCD DISPLAY 14.1 inch Wide Screen XGA Display
MEMORY 1GB DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz, 2 Dimm
HARD DRIVE 80GB Sata Hard Drive

WIRELESS NETWORK CARD Intel PRO/Wireless 3945 802.11a/g Mini Card (54Mbps

I'm going to put the 6400 up in a sec, and then the E1505 from Dell.com.
Also, is it hard to upgrade laptop RAM? Like if I wanted to get another GB in a year or so?

Its not hard, but make sure you get it in 1 Dimm, so you can just pick up another 1 gig stick. Thats where I messed up. I have 2x 512, instead of 1x1 gig.. Newegg had 1 gig for 70 I think...

The E1505 is the American Version of the 6400. The 6400 and E1505 are the same.

1 Dimm is like 170 bucks extra. When the time comes I'll just buy two 1GB sticks and put them in. I'll have more money by next year anyways.

I just checked out the E1505 and it's going to end up costing me more for less so I'm not even going to bother unless someone can find me some great coupons. I still have to find some coupons for Dell.ca. I'll search Google.

What is Truelife?

And what is the difference between Core 2 Duo and Core Duo?
Is Core 2 Duo = Conroe?

And is there much of a difference between the two? (I'm looking at coupons and I can get some good deals with the Core Duo.
