You're welcome.

Also, dvxuser has a DIY section, where people often give step by step instructions on how they built it. Here's the instructions for mine:

Buying some audio soon:

- Rode NTG-1 Mic w/ Shockmount
- Rode Boompole

Since I'm getting an HV20, I was going to get a Beachtek DXA-2S, but was wondering if there is any other ways of setting up an external mic other then this?

Also, what is a good wind screen for the mic? Preferably the best for under 100 $, thanks.

Thanks. BTW, I do have plans for headphones and an XLR cable ...

You're going to need an NTG2. The NTG1 requires phantom power (which the HV20 can't provide), whereas the NTG2 is the same mic except it accepts a battery. I've got one, great mic.

If you want to spend the money on an actual boom pole go right ahead, but I've always said there are much cheaper (and almost as practical) ways of doing it.

If you need to run a balanced line, the beachtek is really the only way to record into the camera. However, I've been okay with just using an XLR to mini cable. If you have the money, go for the beachtek. Then there's always the option of buying a field recorder and syncing the sound after the fact. This is rather expensive and requires more work, but apparently the sound quality is better. Whether this is something the average person would notice, I wouldn't know.

I picked up a pair of sony 7506s, and they really are quite nice.

Can't help you on the wind screen, but I was considering making a DIY blimp with fake for use in high wind.

Yep, sorry I meant to say NTG-2; typo.

Thanks for the info, I'll probably end up with the Beachtek.

I want one of those eventually too. Unfortunately, after the HV20 there's a ton of other things that take priority. I'm starting to get used to my dad's look of astonishment whenever I tell him how much I plan on spending on something.

Finished shooting today. Attaching the lights to the rafters of the garage was a *****, and I succesfully burned a hole through every gel I have. I think it should turn out pretty well though.

Should be finished by around tuesday.

And I need a new "production company" name. My old one was with a friend who no longer helps with anything, so it's time for a new one.
How does "Black Films" sound? Too pretentious? Black being my last name, by the way.

Black films sounds like you're running films for the Black Panthers =P

You can take my name "In-Post Productions"

I thought it was clever

A unifying name to put at the beginning or end of my videos. I would just say "A Justin Black Film" but that sounds a bit self absorbed.

I'm currently exporting the video. This might be the final version... if so it'll be up tonight. In the meantime I'll get some bts pics up.

Setup for the basement:

I would have used a 3 light setup, but my dad was worried it would blow a fuse. More pics to come.

Had 3 blue gelled red heads going through the garage window, with 3 lights in the rafters as well.

I liked it.
When the one guy (loser I think) is punching the one guy in the stomach it seems kind of fake though. It doesn't really look like he's punching him very hard.

BTW, any idea where I can get some of the red heads you used?
Also do you just reflect your light off of tinfoil?
