Are the old style grip frames for cockers worth looking into for restoring an old school cocker? Is there any benefit to using one as in can you get the trigger real smooth or is it just easier to do with the 45 frame style?

old style frame? do you just mean the old style slider (pre 96?) or what?

The stock ones are ok. The old school after market that i had back in the day and still have are benchmark, and the taso slider frames werent bad. Getting a roller sear and some soft springs or just polishing the standard sear and trigger plate works great too! Oh and oil lots of it! lol!

it ultimately boils down to preference. hinge frames are nice because they let you shoot faster (arguably), but nothing beats the feel of a well set-up slider. depending on how old school we're talking, the slider might look more age-appropriate, but it's all up to you.

I'm building the stock WGP frame on my STO, but if I can find a chrome benchmark I'll make the switch.

Don't forget a nice smooth three way too, the hollowpoint is a nice one.

The new style slider feels better and is just easier to find parts for than the old style. Although GAT makes a/t kits for the old style slider so there must still be some out there. I for one will never consider a hinge on a higher end cocker.

if i were to build something, it'd definitely get a slider. that said, the stock hinge is staying on my orry, if only because it's purdy.

I don't think they should even put hinge frames on high end cockers. Slider all the way.

personally I can shoot faster with my ANS slider. I have yet to get a hinge set up that I can out run a revi with and I've spent countless hours. Maybe a madman valve and some ungodly light hammer spring and I could match my slider. I've tried several of them and get em close to likeable but never there like the good ole slider. I have to use my left index finger to get any speed, use the technique I learned on my pro carbine years ago, that thing had what seemed like a 15 pound 3 inch trigger pull so the slider feels like an electro compared to that.

Speed doesn't matter to me it's going on a pump, but my question is the difference and benefits comparing the 45. frame slider the the old school slider?

On the really old school ones your stuck with the plastic finger grooved grip panels, on newer ones you can get whatever you want. As well as they dont have trigger stop or trigger guide screws. And the trigger plates are different also, so finding internals are harder, roller plates and sears ones for example. The trigger pull is also much longer making it easier to short stroke. If you want a simple way to get all the above try an ans quickfire frame.
