All of em will get you where you need to go, some will get you there faster. But if you don't know how to operate it, it doesn't matter which one you own.
Thats usually what I tell the people at my field.

Let me make some revisions:
Luxe: Mercedes Benz
Etek: Prius with a spoiler on the back and flames up the sides
Spyder: Lamborghini . If you don't like Spyder then...
Spyder: Mini Van: For the kids.

This would be perfect if it was a smart car that you could slam into a tree then submerge under water and still drive.

People rip on Spiders, Ions, etc, but I started with a Spyder 15 years ago. Back on point though game last weekend picking teams and the 12 year old rockin an ION gets picked for team last. That's ok though cuz he made snake at break and eliminated 4 other players half the other team. Kudos for skill over entry level equipment.

I can't tell you how many times I have been picked off by players with Tippmanns. You always have a few awesome players that just never decided to spend the money for tournament grade equipment.

Spyders? This brings back the good ol' days when I started. I bought my very first Spyder when I was 16, and it was a Spyder E99. I was brutal on that gun. Dropping it, tripping and falling on it, doing belly slides with it leading the way. I loved it. Then I found out about PbNation. I modded the **** out of that poor gun. I cut away parts of the body, sanded my rammer down to half the weight, threw a 2k3 Timmy bolt in it, drilled holes into the vertical adapter, stretched the spring in the micro switch, and even polished the body. After a full year of having the gun I had already modded it into an Intimidator hybrid with all the internals, grip frame, board, eyes, ASA, and regulator. I really wish I still had that gun because it drew so much attention at the field. I had to buy a halo b for it because it shot so damn fast.
I miss it, and I wish I still had it. I traded it for a 2004 SFT Shocker.

This is absolutely ridiculous. Any field you go to is going to cap your BPS. The new Electras, RS series, and VS Series are all easily capable of playing on a PSP field where a Luxe or Ego will be shooting the same BPS as you. You aren't shooting very far so accuracy shouldn't even be taken into account as far as I'm concerned. Not to mention I've never chopped a ball in any Spyder I've ever used.
First marker I ever owned was a Spyder and I've always had different ones just because they're fun. Just bought a VS2 for good times.

I started.with a with a Pilot then used the Pilot to build up a break beamed Imagin. Had a T-board and shot 15bps(back when that was kinda fast lol). Moved.on to Ions; had a Mini and 09 PMR now Im shooting a pump cocker, old shool Imp and Shocker and wanting to invest in a Bob Long. Im not fan of spyder, but cant say anything.bad about.them. They got me in the game andwhere reliable.
Obviously the are doing something right to be around as.long.as.they have and they don't release the same marker every year :cough:ego:cough:
I love markers that are fun to use( Excal anyone?).

People love to say that as if it means anything lol. Good gun doesn't equal Good player.

There's nothing bad about these markers. The spyder was my first one too. I bought a Sonix. Worked great and even better after I changed out the barrel. I even added a few little additions/"mods" to get the best out of what I had. I can't say anything bad about it. I appreciate the fact that I can still use it as a backup without worrying about what to use the rest of the day.

honestly... you could probably do that with a smart car. Things are in some ways, extremely structurally solid. However, if you're inside it, you're dead.

They are reliable and will make a great rec gun. They are not, however, tournament ready. They lack the electronics/mechanics to stand up with the range of $800+ guns that are used in tournament play. There is a reason you can buy a Spyder for less than $300 where a marker like my Clone will run you between $1,200 and $1,500 new. They are just in a different class. If you mainly play rec ball then the Spyder will be fine for you. If you are wanting to play tournaments, use the Spyder for a while and upgrade as soon as you can. Don't feel like you have to spend over a grand on a new gun though. There are tournament ready guns available for $350-$500.

That is great advice. Thank you!
