Ok, so I've suggested this before but a good point was made by PBN staff that there was no way of verifying.

Currently ALL PSP referees (even including those of us who've done it for years) are having to go to recert classes with the change in PSP ref management (Tim leaving and Marcus/Tom taking over this role).

I would like to re-suggest making a PSP referee badge for those of us who serve the sport on the sidelines doing the best we can to ensure the game is played fairly and trying to provide the best referee service in the world.

Verification = since we are all now having to recert all recert classes are setup as APPA events. I would think that we could put something together that as long as said referee syncs his APPA and PBN accounts it could verify that he/she has attended one of these classes and is now a PSP certified referee.

Touché lol. I'm guessing if you take the cert you are technically a certified PSP referee eh? Id also like to suggest with this badge we be able to have access to the PSP private forum as I'm sure there are times that questions/etc have arisen that a ref might be able to help with. Just a thought.

Ok- so I now want to bump this thread as I can now answer jake's inquiry.

After reffing MAO I am now up to speed on the ID scanners/etc that the PSP are using (I missed Dallas due to prior commitments).

The way to verify that the user is a 2014 PSP Referee is to have them verify by providing a picture of their 2014 PSP ID. Anyone who refs a PSP event this year will be given a 2014 APPA ID marked referee on the bottom as per the pic below.

Aren't most badges on here purchased by the manufacturer and or the representative.
So wouldn't the PSP itself need to be the ones you need to talk to? Since after all they would need to pay pbnation to do that badge.

honestly if i had the choice of playing or reffing, i would choose reffing. its what we do, and its what we love. its part of the game. why not let us show it off too.

Exactly this.

Most of us have played for years, and have retired as our best years as a player are behind us. That being said, we choose, with little respect and pay might I add, to promote the sport we love and try to give today's players the same or better experiences than we've had in the past.

I see you have a PSP player's badge whats it matter if you have that badge. It's a way for them to show pride in what they do and honestly for the **** refs go through they deserve a badge. Not to mention it would lend cred when they are explaining rules on here.

Referees (I prefer the term "Officials") deserve the same amount, if not more, respect as players. They have a tough job. Paintball has a lot going on in a single point and they do well to work together, just as players do, to do their job.

Another thing that would make it easier is if they gave numbers to the Officials the same way players have ID numbers. It would make verifying this badge a lot easier too.
