I Agree with this guy. What's your budget? What are looking for in a gun?

If wanting specifically an entry level marker I would say Proto Rail or Invert Mini are the best options for price and performance.

Idk if I would call an AXE an entry level marker, pretty expensive. What is your budget? do you have any guns in mind? what gear at all do you have now? I would recomment getting either a G4/5 or a mini. Now I know there are a lot of people that say DP is garbage blah blah blah but if you take care of your marker and use a good lube and treat it right it really shouldn't give you a problem. I've shot many cases through my G4 and never had bolt stick. The mini is also a good gun, its small and compact and very reliable, but if you are big you might not like how it feels in your hands. im 6'1" and a big guy and i cant hold the mini or play with it its to small. Narrow the gun choices to a few, go to the shops hold the guns and see which you like best. If you know any friends that play maybe use their guns to see what you like and dont like.

In addition to what the other guys have asked, are you willing to buy used? I'm also on the Etek/Etha/Mini bandwagon in the case of buying new, though.

You can buy any of those guns in perfect working condition for 30-50% off if bought used....

^Plus IMO it's better to grap yourself an older high-end than a new mid-low end. I loved the hell out of my Ego 8 and I think they go for like 400-450 right now. I know it's a bit higher than what else was listed but that ego is going to last and give you little to know trouble.

I would say a protege (with a pressure tester), mini/axe, pm8 or 07/08 egos or MacDev drone/droid if used.
If new, then mini/axe, etek (skip the etha), dp g4 with a tech t bolt, or a drone depending on price range.

any marker in your budget can be used in speedball, I use mechs and electros.
But to be more direct until you give more specifics on your parameters, the answer is always the marker you are best at using, of course if your new, thats not a helpful answer.
But please provide:
1) a budget
2) your experience level. I know you said starter, but whats your level of experience; never played, tried it with a tippman etc, only played woodsball thus far..etc..
3) how compfortable are you working on markers(tweaking, fixing etc.), helps answer the new or used aspect.

What's your price range? If you are just starting out and want to see how you like the sport I suggest either a Smart Parts Ion, Smart Parts NXT Shocker, or an invert mini. Also of you are still looking for a marker feel free to pm me I have a couple markers for sale at a good price too.
