A kid in Z's graduating class, one of her friends, died on graduation day while skateboarding. Fell and was ran over by a semi. Town is pretty shook up by it. Sucks....they have the final dance dedicated to him, these shots are from that dance

Just out of curiosity, is there a system that you use to base your prices/print credits on? I ask, just because some of the prices ( especially the gold, silver, and bronze) are kind of random. Not that it is a bad thing, just wondering if there was a specific thought process there, as opposed to just going up in a more sequential manner.

Based off desired profit per package. Which takes into account amount of time shooting and editing, and cost of prints, books and packaging.

Speaking of books, I have been using mycanvas.com get a 11x14 24 page book for around $60...I want cheaper ****. What do.

I hope your designer friend didn't create that price list because it is horrendous. Just saying. Good stuff otherwise, shooting dances are difficult especially when the lighting sucks (which they seem to prefer for some reason)

What do you find horrendous about it? It was pretty much exactly what I wanted, I wanted some color mixture going on, as well as the shiny stars being there.

I don't think it's horrendous. I do say that it doesn't really match any of your other stylistic choices when it comes to the design.

Use your logo in various colors instead of the stars in the boxes. Makes it look a little "cheesy" compared to your other stuff. It also doesn't look to "custom" designed. Looks like a Microsoft Template. I know it takes a lot of work but it just seems a bit different than your branding.

But when it comes to a price listing like that, you want it to be simple so people can get it, or understand it. Yeah, you can throw your own touch to it.. but for what it's meant to be, it works.

.
But it's one of those things where if you are branding, you brand, and everything goes together. For what it's worth you're really stepping it up Jimmy.

BTW - mind if a friend and I crash at your condo in the middle of August? Like August 19. We plan on just tooling around P-town all day friday and into saturday and I figure we'll have a few drinks and don't want to have to drive back 1.5 hours to here.

Horrendous may have been an overstatement. The rest of your branding, from what I've seen, seems more 2d, but the chart gives off the vibe of excel powerpoint with crappy 3d star graphics (my opinion).

The color bothers me the most, especially when viewing it from your website. But if you like it don't bother changing it

I think a style like this would fit into your website design better.

Thanks for taking the time to make that, we will reevaluate that situation and see where it goes, but I think for now we will keep it the same. Stars are gangster.

**NOTE**If you don't want to read all my "blah blah blah" just skip to the summary.**/NOTE**

Jimmy, as far as the flyer goes I dig it! Honestly, I wish I had something so simple and strait forward for my clients and for the many inquiries that I have on my pricing. I'm a firm believer in pricing each shoot for the specific job. But for basic work, such as portrait photo shoots, having a pricelist that's clear and simple like this is a great way to filter out people who are good potential clients and people who are not looking for a photographer in your pricerange. Expect to see me rip off some ideas from your flyer. You've really inspired me to finally make something for this purpose.

As far as the comments about the design, color choices, ect. Just remember who your clients are and what's important to them. Your clients are not critiquing your design skills or the design skills of your designer roommate. They are looking for the design to be "better than MS Paint". They don't want a cheesy flyer with horrible fonts and no rhyme or reason for the layout. Just like when they look at your photos, they want it to "looks good" to them. If the flyer makes them "feel good" about hiring you than it did the job. THis flyer seperates Jimmy from 90% of the garbage FB and Craigslist photographers and gives a sense of professionalism to expect from his company. More importantly, the client wants two things: 1. to see some of your work and to know that they will like your quality of work - in Jimmy's flyer the photo of his GF alone would have me ready to hire him! Such a great shot! 2. They want to know what it will cost them and what they will get in return, to make sure that they can afford you and that it's worth the money. All of that is attained in this flyer.

IN SUMMARY:
1. You're not going to lose a client because of using "Stars" and corresponding colors for the package names.

and

2. Stars are Gangster.

What he says is true. From a branding perspective you want EVERYTHING you do to follow the same set of standards, which WILL reflect back on you as a professional.

This is just my opinion, but I would keep it it mind for the future, not necessarily the price list.
