Rowing Machine Workouts

I saw that this was briefly discussed in another thread, but i wanted to know more specifically about cardio on a rowing machine. My school has two fairly decent rowing machines in its gym, which I've been using for the past couple weeks, but I've mainly just been doing a quick Tabata-style workout before moving on to other things.

So, does anyone know of other effective workouts that can be done on the rowing machine?

I would have been civil about this, but you had to be a little pewse and take it personally.

hahaha the people at the gym have no idea what good technique is.

a good workout for the erg (ergometer) is a 1000 meters on 4 minutes off. your rates (top right of the screen that will be in double digits) will be around 26-30. it should take you around 3:20-4:20 minutes to do. then do it 4-5 times. watch a video on correct technique first

Word, maybe Dave Tate will put that up alongside his bench-press cure video.

I love the rowing machine. Only thing in the gym where I can really push myself cardio wise. Something about that distance counting down a little bit further with every row just pushes me harder. I don't have the patience to sit on any other machine for long, and I don't really have the patience to do 4 or 5 'sets' on it, either. I do know that I once cranked out 1000m in under 3:30 and pushed so hard to do it that I was blacking out and could barely walk afterwords.
