If your parents went on vacation and never came back you would. And sureley you've heard of home sickness. Separation and change scare people and upset them, but as we mature we learn how to cope with it. A big part of mourning is that people don't know how long they will live. Paired with the inability to comprehend a truly different level of existence it seems that that person will be absent from your life for a very long time, when realistically you could be struck by a bus and be with them in just hours.
