DC Streamline Project

So this is the project we have been working on at the shop. We got this body in years ago and were told it was junk...well it wasn't and i convinced Jared to finally mill it for me. There are a bunch of little things we tried on this that we have not done before, we figure if we killed a body at least it was mine and not a customer gun.

The body alone came out to 9 3/8 oz...i was shooting for 8, but the only way to make it lighter is to mill off what makes it a stream line so that was vetoed...but what we did do is mill off some of the Tube that holds the reg...we took a 1/4 inch out of ...if you look it makes a big difference up front...this is the first one tried at the shop..if you mess this up, the gun is junk

I convinced J to take a little more out of the underside of the gun than he normally does on customer guns...well it was more like badgered but hey it worked

A little custom touch on the back...if we could have added the word Dummy it would have been more fitting

Here you see we did some milling on the reg to make another custom touch, i also completely smoothed the front of the UL frame and the thin tray

And Last the obligatory Butt Crack shot

The Color is going to be a Dark Blue, almost Black Dust with Clear Accents

I'll post some pics when it gets back from anno

Ah, thank you, means a lot comming from you. You should have asked me if it was possible, I'd have told you so.
Did you guys milled off some of the inner bottom lip to have it flush with the body?

Edit: You guys are amazing.

Well we knew it was feasable...it was whether or not it was feasable to offer it as a service...and as you know it was a pain in the ***...but once it was figured out it wasnt that bad...i think it was more a pain for J to Burr the inside and get the tap ground down so it would cut the way he wanted it...no we didn't take any of the body down...just the normal fsp, with that little bit cut off

Is the bottom of the fsp cut flush with the body? I mean, inside the vASA, there's a lip at the bottom (top?). For the vASA to sit flush with the bottom of the body, you have to remove some of that lip. I didn't on mine that's why it doesn't sit flush, was to be the next step. It's short so that a sidewinder's top will get to .003" of that lip. I did the inside threads on the lathe, not with a tap. And I guess you mean "bore" and not "burr". I hope so.

No...i mean Burr....after it was Tapped...He runs the tap in the Bridgeport (and by hand)...there was a burr at the bottom, that he removed...I should have said deburred

ooooh boy. I gotta see this.

I feel for a streamline, maybe a dust sky blue with gloss dark chocolate brown accents would be nice.

And like accents on the embossed streamliney parts as well

nonetheless, that is a magnificent milling job. it was 9 3/8ths after all down to the last picture?

I think it was 9 3/8th's before the writing on the back and final sanding/grinding etc....i don't think any of that would have changed enough to make a difference

Youll have probably picked it up from DC by the time I get back from all these trade shows. Would've liked to see this one in person
