They want to make the lowest division extremely low cost so they can introduce newer players to the league without them having to spend an arm and a leg.
Try not to think of it as the higher divisions are more expensive. Think of it as the lower divisions are just cheaper.

Think of it as an incentive to sandbag?

Yes. The NPPL kept a low entry fee in division four in hopes that they will see a ton of sandbagging. Do people just need something to ***** about? LOW ENTRY FEE!! What is the problem?
Go play PSP where sandbagging is legal.

I love how you are the NPPL defender. I've played both leagues for a while, and I'm just playing around with the sandbagging comment. Obviously with the new ranking system and the lower entry fees, many teams will be tempted to put in a D4 squad with some players that shouldn't be in D4.
Good idea, but might not end up getting the desired results. As you said, new players can now have a cheaper division to play in and hopefully more teams will enter. However, if they enter , then find out they are there getting smashed by sandbagging teams, they will no longer enter.
Not saying it's a bad idea. I think it's great to have a cheaper division for newer players. When I got started I was so addicted I would have paid double the entry fee just to keep playing. I'm just saying it might not provide the expected results.

If you feel sandbagging is going to be a big deal in division 4 then why are there more d3 teams than d4 teams? Cheaper to play d4 and easier to win.
And yes I do defend the NPPL. Joking or not a small comment like that turns into a rumor which later turns into truth. Then we have people who dont understand your joke trolling all over paintball websites. Ive seen it happen countless times.

"Might" implies uncertainty. I'm not saying it's going to happen, but that it could/might happen.
I guess the only thing I will say to you is- I like the cheap division idea. I'm going to play HB in D4 7man. I love the NPPL.

Let he sand-baggery begin! lol. Na, but it is a good idea to keep the lower divsions cheaper... They tend to not have sponsors, and as we all know. This sport is ****in expensive.
BTW. Good to see Arsenal Kidz back, you guys doing D1? And now what happens to Minions?

Teams can also do this in the PSP though. What ever tournament you decide to play, your going to see sandbagging. Example: If a team that plays strictly NPPL in Division 1 decides to play psp for the first time, they can play d4 if they really wanted to...Since they would have no rank in the APPA.
On another note, Cory you need to start playing again! We practice saturday mornings around 8 am. If you need gear or anything let me know

Not saying they can't do that in the PSP, but I know at least 2010 season they fought against that by 1. Having pretty similar prices- not exactly sure what the difference was and 2. No cash prizes for D4- medals and a plaque. I thought that was a cool way to offer a cheaper division for newer players and help prevent sandbagging.
On another note, next week I'll be up that way. I need to get on those Sat morning practices. I'll text you.

Nice ninja post edit or delete or whatever. Bold comment bro.
Moving on-
Agreed to the fullest. Professional leagues are a business and they have to make money so charge a fair price so all can afford. By giving the lower division lower pricing, that counters the high cost of an event. On the flip side, they have to keep costs up to a degree to make the money they need to stay afloat. It's not like paintball has huge deals and contracts like the NFL and NBA...I like the pricing, I don't play NPPL but regardless, it's fair.

Thanks man. We are playing division 2 for HB, then we will see where things go from there. The Minions name is still around, Im just waiting for the right players to pick up to represent the name. Probably going to be a division 4 team.
