We played today in the early afternoon in beginner open. Had a great time in Biohazard.

Someone was doing some SERIOUS filming -- a news crew maybe?

I think I had more fun doing the mock game for the cameras than an actual game.

Of course it wasn't too fun when I got point blank blind-fired on when I joined the beginner game. Apparently that guy never heard of barrel tags! Glad I had the padding.

I have never heard of barrel tags, but the name sounds like you tap someone on the back and say "you're out" without shooting them.

As a beginner, but not being the guy you mention, I bet there are many things I don't know how many things there are too know. Maybe a good thread there.

To put it simply, it is like a "melee attack" in paintball, a way to get someone out who is close or right next to you without having to fire. And no, it doesn't involve hitting, like you said, a tap on the shoulder or even calling them out if you got the drop on them.

In this case, I was behind a barricade in the dead center of the field (Biohazard in this case). I was in a great position, shooting at people left and right, keeping their heads down and preventing them from moving up.

While I called a ref to check on a gun hit I made, I heard fire behind me, thought it was a teammate. In fact it was someone from the other team shooting from the other side of my cover, not even realizing I was there.

I turned, tapped my marker against the side of his marker (didn't shoot), said, "got you dude, you're out." Well apparently he panicked, didn't know I was there, literally put his barrel into mine, shot in there, fell back, then stuck his gun around the corner and blindfired on me from a foot away , hitting me in the leg (thank you Planet Eclipse pants!). Called out not to blind fire, fortunately he stopped, probably scared him with my tone. I maintained my cool, didn't want to start a fight with a newbie, but did inform the ref about it who promptly called him out.

I did something I think is legal in about the 2:00 Bio-hazard game. My son and I were behind the yellow car holding the tape alright, but we ran out of ammo. So we kept pretending we were still firing paint. My son got a graze on the helmet, so he went out. Then after another minute, the armband team had about 4-5 guys ready to charge at once, so I surrendered the moment I saw them starting to running over.

I think if I had a straight-shooting marker and possibly some indoor paint, it might have helped.

In my opinion, what you did was okay, it might help to keep their heads down, but once they realize you are shooting blanks...

What I mentioned was more of a safety issue, with blind fire, you don't see who/what you are shooting at and could possibly hit, or in this case actually hit, someone who is very close. I had the padding, so it helped a lot, but not everyone does.

As for your gun shooting straight, it happens. After all the paint is spherical, not exactly aerodynamic.
