Yeah, we got him for nothing...He is also a tremendous leader, which is something they Eagles defense has lacked since Dawkins left. I'm now thinking we're once again going to go after an OL or a big DL in the first round. I'm hoping Andy will go for a Safety, but let's be real...he ALWAYS goes for linemen.

Hopefully the team will carry on with the momentum they picked up late last year. I'm still skeptical about our Castillo though.

Andy thinks that surrounding himself with fat dudes will make him look smaller.

More like every team has a derp year. Cowboys.....nuff said. Giants always struggle but if they get in the playoffs it is clear that they can pull it together. Eagles, well let's just say the "dream team" didn't work out as they planned.

Hard to say that right now. Getting a ****load of new players and having no offseason is tough. Any football player will tell you it takes time for chemistry to develop and they really didn't get it together until late last season. BUT, when they did, they looked REALLY good. Had they gotten into the playoffs, it could have been dangerous as they were red hot (as were the Giants who also didn't play their best ball throughout the regular season).

The Ravens had a crappy year and then came back and made the playoffs 4 years in a row. I see the Eagles winning this division 2 out of the next 4 years with the Giants and Eli being the eagles nemesis. Tony oh-no shoulda seen the door and Jerry jones shoulda gotten P Manning if he wanted this division.

Bringing this thread back from the dead. I'm feeling really nice about our NFC East chances this coming season. No doubt we'll at least make the playoffs, but then be heartbroken when we lose in the first or second round.

So im almost 300% positive that no one read this in the other thread so here it goes, again.

So I was thinking about making a thread on this but I figured i'd write my review first, see what you guys thought of the idea then go from there:

Team Position Break Down: In depth analysis TC
Offense
QB-Mike Vick,Mike Kafka, Nick Foles
Grade-B+
Vick went from having a comeback season where he led the eagles to the playoffs and lost a close game to the SB champs, to having a nightmarish season last year. This is the first year that Vick has been the starter in TC, and so far he looks about as good as he can possibly look 3 days into TC. Hes throwing the ball with a lot of zip, his deep ball is almost flawless, and hes been getting rid of the ball much quicker. Vick needs to keep the TO's to a minimum this year, which i think he can do. Much has been said about him getting hurt because he doesnt slide, well I would argue that it has more to do with him trying to make a play when there isnt anything there and believing in his abilities a little to much. He made a ton of mistakes last year but most of the mistakes can be easily corrected. Personally(obviously I am a wee bit biased) I think that he can have a pro bowl season(and actually deserve it) if he stays healthy, which is really what the eagles season will come down to, hes only played 16 games once in his entire career which definitely is a cause for doubt.

Mike Kafka is the second string QB right now and well....the good news is he knows the offense and is a master of dump offs and throws that require little skill. The bad news, I could probably throw a ball further than him. If vick gets hurt, we could potentially be in big trouble. I would say he has the potential of being a smarter Aj Feely with a little bit less arm strength. Dont be surprised if Vick goes down and and Kafka doesnt perform, we bring in McNabb.

Nick Foles is a big rookie with a cannon, however he lacks mobility in the pocket and needs to work on his accuracy with deep routes. I havent seen enough of him yet to fairly grade him but he has potential.

RB-Shady McCoy, Dion Lewis, Bryce Brown, Chris Polk
Grade: A
It could be said that McCoy is the best back in the league, Barry Sanders has gone on record saying the RB that has reminded him of himself is LeSean McCoy. Doesnt fumble, rediculous moves, great pass blocker, great reciever, plays hurt and is just an all around great back. Did I mention he just turned 24as well?

Dion Lewis is also opening some eyes in TC, hes a little guy but he plays very physical. except from some garbage time last year agaisnt the cowboys there really isnt much to say about him yet, he does all of the little things right but his size definitely limits him in terms of the style he likes to play.

Bryce Brown and Chris Polk are battling for the 3rd RB spot, I would say so far that Brown has the upper hand. Brown is a very interesting guy, #1 recruit coming out of HS, had a solid freshman year at TENN, transfered to KSU, then didnt play and got drafted in the 7th round. Probably the most talented 7th round draft pick i've watched play in a while, 6'2 220, has a second gear and man can he run some people over. needs to work on his recieving and pass protection(2 big things in the eagles offense) but the guy is a baller and I am keeping a close eye on him. Chris Polk is the other guy, solid career in college, shoulder injuries made him go from a 3rd round pick to UDFA, He says he played with the injury all throughout college and it doesnt bother him, I dont think he will make the team though, seems to lack burst and his recieving skills are almost non existant.

WR-DeSean Jackson, Jeremy Maclin, Jason Avant, Riley Cooper, Marvin McNutt, Chad Hall

DeSean Jackson has also opened some eyes in TC, it looks as if he is playing pissed off and even though he is small as ****, the mans been trying to play as physical as he can so far. He's been staying in bounds fighting for extra yards which is unusual for him, I personally like that hes trying to be physical, but I want him to stop, we didnt pay you to be a brandon marshall type WR, we paid you to run really fast. I guess the good news peanut finally got paid and should have a typical Djax type season (40-60 balls-1000+ yards). Interesting that he isnt the primary punt returner now, I guess that has more to do with him just getting paid.

Jeremy Maclin- A lot of people forget that last year he had a cancer scare in the beginning going into TC, which turned out to be mono. He came into the season about 20 pounds under his normal playing weight and tried to get back into playing shape throughout the season, which he was not exactly able to do. Look for Jmac to have a break out season, hes healthy and is more of a number 1 than Djax, i would say he will catch between 55-80 balls this year.

Jason Avant, there isnt to much to say about him, big physical slot reciever, not very fast at all but knows how to get open and has great hands.

Riley Cooper- broke his collar bone, big receiver that lacks speed, needs to work on using his body better when he comes back

Marvin McNutt- besides his name being awesome, I am a big fan of this kid. hes a big receiver still trying to figure out the position, he originally was a QB in college, but he has potential to be a solid WR. Riley Cooper being injured really opened up a lot of oppurtunities for him and he might beat out Riley for the 4th WR spot.

Chad Hall-hes a ****tier Danny Woodhead that plays WR. It makes no sense to me but this guy is like 5'6, runs crisp routes, and tries to play physical. Hes one of those players who really does not add much in terms of getting on the field when the season starts but he just keeps making play after ****ing play in practice. I hate this guy but I know hell weasel his way into snagging a roster spot

TE-Brent Celek, Clay Harbor
Grade: C+
Brent Celek is an above average TE, lacks break away speed and isnt a very polished blocker but he plays with a lot of heart and doesnt shy away from contact by any means. Vick started to build chemistry with him as the season progressed, we had hoped Vick would utilize him as he did with Alge Crumpler in ATL but he never really looked his way. The plan is to incorporate Brent a lot more this year so I guess we will have to wait and see.

Clay Harbor-needs a strong camp to convince to the coaching staff hes the number 2 TE, and so far, he hasnt done much. I forget the guys first name but this Brackett guy has been catching every ball thrown his way so far and looks like the better option so far. Harbor is more of an H-Back and doesnt look like the typical TE, he has pretty good speed but his hands are average and he is not a good blocker.

OL-Demetress Bell, Evan Mathis, Jason Kelce, Danny Watkins, todd Heremanns
Grade-A

Bell-Howard Mudd has been ranting and raving about this guy about how athletic and physical he is. He and trent cole have been battling back and forth and he seems like he is going to do more than stellar job of filling in for the injured Jason Peters. Mudd has gone on record saying this is the best OL hes coached in his career, and thats saying a lot considering Peters is out and hes a HOF coach

Mathis- Pro bowl guard, solid pass blocker, typical Howard Mudd guard, not the most physically gifted player but has great technique and will continue play at a high level.

Jason Kelce-played at a probowl level as a rookie last year, Mudd has said he reminds him of a more physically gifted Jeff Saturday. Thats quite a lot of praise considering Saturday is going to be a HOFer. He needs to work on his calls but that comes with experience, also needs to work on his pass blocking as he was getting pushed back against big DT's last year. gets great leverage though when run blocking.

Danny Watkins- disapointing rookie year, however came on strong in the last 2 games. made the switch from T in college to RG in the NFL, kid(well he was a 28 year old rookie) plays with a mean streak and really gets to the second level fast. I expect him to have a probowl season and really stand out.

Todd Heremanns- Todd has played every position for the eagles except center. He's not the most athletic player, but he is a big guy who moves his feet pretty well and is an above average run blocker. He struggles a bit with the quicker DE's but overall is a solid RT. Most likely wont make a probowl in his career but he is still a solid player.

Player to watch out for: Brandon Washington, he was considered to be a top guard going into his senior year but was switched to tackle where he really strugled. So far he has shown a ton of potential at his natural position of LG and is a player that will crack the starting line up at some point and will probably be a solid player.

Defense
DE-Jason Babin, Trent Cole, Brandon Graham, Phillip Hunt, Vinny Curry, Daryl Tapp
Grade:A+
Babin-18 1/2 sacks last year, sure he had almost no contributions in terms of tackles but the guy can flat out rush the QB. People tend to focus way to much on the "wide 9," Jim Washburn would tell you that we dont run a "wide 9," but sometimes line a DE in the 9 technique. The problem last year with the defense was that the LB's we had were pure trash and on running downs didnt know what to do. well this year the focus has been on bringing in LB's who can play in space and we've really switched the defense for 1st and 2nd down and only incorporate the 9 tech on passing downs. I dont see Babin having another 18 1/2 sack year, but I wouldnt be surprised if its between 11-15

Cole- probably my favorite eagle, the guy does so much that isnt shown in the stat book and IMO is the best best DE in the east(I think JPP will go on to have a better career but cole has been consistant). He's averaged at least 10 sacks over the last 5 years, always in the top 3 for TFL's for DE's, and has incredible awareness on the field. Guy has a motor that never quits and is just a helluva player.

Brandon Graham-I started talking about him a little bit earlier, saying how he was unblockable and this and that, well, Graham came back to reality today in TC and looked human. the previous few days and OTA's he was unblockable. people have been labeling him a bust already which is a bit rediculous, he suffered his first knee injury ever his rookie year after showing a lot of promise, wasnt healthy last year and was fat, and now came into TC in shape, motivated and pissed off. Brandon has heard all of the talk about how great JPP is, and how he is a bust, and how he wont be good but all that has made him is angry and wanting to prove the "haters" wrong. He has a great first step, hes only 6'1 but hes a solid 275 pounds and can push the pocket. He will only be used in the rotation this year but there is no reason he wont be a force in the time that he gets on the field.

Phillip Hunt-came from the CFL and has actually opened some eyes. was in the backfield a lot towards the end of last season and really has some amazing quickness. hes definitely a pass rush specialist, kind of similar to a less talented version of Chris Clemmons, and has a chance to make the roster and contribute on passing downs.

Vinny Curry- he slipped in the 2nd round and the eagles scooped him, he was projected to be a late first early second round pick aswell. Had a solid career in college, I havent seen enough of him yet, looks to be a big physical DE who can hold his ground and rush the passer. I'll be keeping an eye out for him.
-On a side note, I think the one thing in the new CBA that I am coming to hate is the reduced practice time during TC, the morning walk throughs are boring as **** and it really doesnt allow rookies and camp bodies to show what they can do and get the reps that they need. If they reduce the practice time, they should at least expand the roster limit.

Tapp- has played well in the time that hes been in, unfortunately with his cap hit and the depth on the DL I dont think he will make the team. will be picked up the first day he is released though and someone will get a player who brings it every play.

DT- Cullen Jenkins, Mike Patterson, Fletcher Cox, Derick Landri, Cedric Thornton
Grade: B+
Cullen Jenkins- I thought he was the best FA we picked up last year in terms of how he played, disruptive force in the middle who really collapsed the pocket and made play after play. He went from 3-4 DE to 4-3 DT which really helped his game and showed that he can be dominant player in this league. I expect more of the same from him this year.

Mike Patterson- He cant practice yet due to his brain surgery, but hes been consistantly a solid run stopper. I give the guy props because even though he hasnt been cleared and doesnt have to, hes been at every practice working out on the side and actively participating in helping the young guys out.

Fletcher Cox- This kid has a lot of learning to do, DT is a tough position for rookies because they cant just rely on there athletic ability like in college. This kid has all the athletic talent in the world, he just is really raw with using his hands and playing smart. Poor kids been getting pancaked out there playing with the big boys. Washburn has really been on him constantly yelling at him. Washburn went on to say he reminds him of a young Warren Sapp, but idk if thats a good comparison, Cox seems a lot more raw to me coming out of college than Sapp did and Sapp was an absolute monster the moment he stepped on the field to the moment he retired.

Landri- guy is probably the least athletically gifted of the bunch, but god damn does this guy bring it ever play. non stop motor and just a nasty mother****er. As of now hes the starting DT next to Jenkins, although I dont know how he is going to hold up getting starter minutes considering hes never started before.

Thornton- dont really know anything about this guy other than hes been making some plays in TC and apparently washburn really likes him, along with this other guy name Ollie Ogbu

LB-DeMeco Ryans, Brian Rolle, Mychal Kendricks, Jamar Chaney
Grade: C+
Ryans- looks like the old DeMeco to me, guy is a leader out there on D and is always in the right place at the right time. I wanted to give the LB's a B+ but I think thats were they will finish by the end of the year and it would be biased of me to rate them any higher considering there performance last year, then again this is a different group. Ryans will anchor the middle and dont be surprised if he registers over 90 tackles and has a pro bowl year

Rolle- Our best LB last year, was a 6th round pick and a rookie as well. People on the EMB like to call him "A little ball of hate," due to the fact that he isnt very tall but really can lay the wood. I am a big Brian Rolle fan and I think he can have another really good year, he needs to work on his coverage though.

Kendricks- My favorite rookie so far, hes already been pencilled in as the starting SAM and I think it is warranted. this kid has the physical tool sets to be an all pro and be a force in this league for a long time. I have been very impressed with how the speed of the game so far has not effected him and he has looked very natural in the position considering he was a MLB in college. I've been particullary impressed with how he's been snuffing out the screen pass, considering the eagles have been known throughout the years as one of the best screen teams in the league. I'm expecting big things from this kid

Chaney-played all 3 positions last year, had 18 tackles, 2 FF against the giants in the first game. was a 7th round draft pick and has trouble getting off blocks, he was the fastest MLB in last years draft as well. He is still recovering from a neck injury and really needs to work on staying gap disciplined, he tried relying on his speed way to much last year and was murdered by quick guards.

CB-Nmadi, DRC, Joselio Hanson, Curtis Marsh, Brandon Boykin
Grade-A
Nmadi- disapointing year last year, but I blame JC more than I blame nmadi. I dont know why he was playing zone when he is one of the best man corners in the league. The good news is that so far in TC he has been playing man and he has litterally been locking down whatever side of the field hes on. One play that really stood out to me so far in TC was a 10 second play where vick was scrambling and Maclin no matter what kind of move he tried doing had Nmadi hip to hip covering him the entire time and Vick had to throw it away. Look for nmadi to have a solid year and continue to be a top 3 CB in the league.

DRC- Has been the best player in TC so far, his closing speed is absolutely rediculous and he is another player that excels in man coverage. he was used in the slot last year and really struggled, not so much this year as Asante is now in ATL. I expect him to lead the team in INT's and have a probowl year. he still isnt a good tackler but neither was asante, I'd rather have a play making CB than a great tackler.

Joselio Hanson-MMMM Bop is a good but not great slot CB, he isnt very fast, but hes pretty quick and plays physical. not to much to say about the guy other than hes competing with Boykin for the slot CB spot

Curtis Marsh- interesting player, extremely raw, was a RB than switched to CB his junior year of college. 6'2 212, has a lot of length and right now is the back up if DRC or nmadi goes down. I'll be keeping a close eye on him in TC, not to much on the guy right now

Boykin- steal in the 4th round, guy has solid return abilities and is a helluva tackler. I hope he pushes Hanson for the nickel CB role, he should bring a lot to our return game aswell which we have been missing asides from Djax.

S- Nate Allen, Kurt Coleman, OJ Atogwe, Colt Anderson(PUP)
Grade: C

Allen- Hasnt been healthy until this season, had a lot of promise towards the end of last season and hopefully he can stay healthy. he isnt the most athletic safety, but hes smart and is a ball hawking type safety.

Coleman- opposite of Allen, is a hard hitting safety but lacks speed and awareness. not much to be said about him except he needs to play smarter and needs to play the ball in the air better

Atogwe- veteran safety, solid tackler, decent ball skills, needs to stay healthy and should push coleman for the SS spot. Should be a solid back up for us and spot starter.

Overall Team: B+
This time last year I was running around telling people to hand us the superbowl trophy before the season started. needless to say the end result was our team was one of the biggest bust teams in all of sports history and were the butt end of about every football joke last year. So this year I am taking a different approach, AR's track record of making a deep run in the playoffs after a bad season has be optimistic along with this being one of the best teams on paper we've had in a while. Anything can happen with a little bit of luck in the play offs(see Giants;NY) so I am just going to say that I think the eagles will win the division and make the play offs. I see us at a record of 12-4.

PS: I'll spell check this when im off work, I just wanted to post this to get some reactions. Try not to **** on my work to much, as I did put a decent amount of time into this.

PPS: The reason I wrote this is because I was hoping other people would write reviews of there own team, I tried to be as unbiased as I could and I would like to hear your thoughts and oppinions from an unbiased stand point. Thanks!

I thought people would want to participate, but it seems people are content with just reporting the news and talking ****. It worked on the EMB, but then again I would say the overall maturity on that board is a wee bit higher and people put in a lot more thought in there posts. With that being said I find these boards much funnier and I actually enjoy posting on here, opposed to just reading what much better writers than myself have to say on the EMB lol

Edit: what I mean is that people from other message boards were writing there own team reviews, I thought it was interesting because I personally like hearing about players I dont often hear about or never heard of so that way when they do break out or bust, i can be like "oh yea, i remember that one guy said to watch out for that player," etc.

Edit: what I mean is that people from other message boards were writing there own team reviews, I thought it was interesting because I personally like hearing about players I dont often hear about or never heard of so that way when they do break out or bust, i can be like "oh yea, i remember that one guy said to watch out for that player," etc.
Look out for Linval Joseph at DT. He played well last year but has made some good progress in the offseason and looks great at training camp.

Bet Vick doesn't get out of week 3 without getting injured, personally I wouldn't mind seeing McNabb get brought in, I think he still fits in great with Phillys offense and could get as many if not more wins with the Eagles as a starter then Vick, McNabb with Shady in the backfield would be much like the McNabb and Westbrook duo.

I think the Eagles will go about 10-6 this year maybe 11-5 tops. Although I'd love to see them do better then that, but with Vick as QB I just don't see it happening, not to be ashamed of a season like that as long as they make the playoffs.
