So a lot more woodsball fields and scenarios are now allowing people to use smoke grenades. Usually they only allow cool burning smoke grenades like the company Sport Smoke makes. What do you guys think of these? Do you guys think they should be used for walk on play? Scenarios? Both?
But the real question is, would you ever bunker someone with it? lol

we use them for all types of Outdoor play (TTPL, Walk on, Scenario/big game)...we launch them out of laws for maximum distance and cover..they are great and add alot of energy to scenarios and other big battles..Never bunker anyone with it, they are "cool burning" but can still start a fire (ive seen it)
true. when i say bunker i mean like if theyre in a small hut just toss it in the hut to smoke them out. what field allows you to put those in a launcher? lol.
ive always wanted to run down the field with like 3 in each hand but itd get too hot. at living legends and paintball explosions big game, id pick them up and throw them back. they didnt seem too hot but i was wearing gloves. i think that 3 would get pretty hot though
the cool burning just means the fuse is inside the smoke grenade instead of on the outside and you dont need a lighter to use it

Whenever I have seen smoke grenades used they haven't been terribly effective. But I wouldn't use it to bunker someone, I think they should be limited to scenario play, for walk ons it's too much of a hassle to figure out rules and stuff for safety.
I did bunker someone with smoke one time, sorta... I was being held prisoner in a small building. I had been role playing as the Mayor of the city and I had stashed assorted items in different parts of the city. In this building, it was my trusty smoke grenade.
There wasnt a door on this building so I decided to toss the smoke grenade just outside the door and when it smoked up good, I was gonna take off running for the woods. Well the two guys standing guard got the brunt of the smoke. I personally would have got out of the cloud, but... And then anyone that knows me, knows I aint gonna get far running.
But yeah, bad ideal. I about to lay those guys out with smoke inhailation.
I checked out some of the links you posted and would
just like to make this observation. Making your own
smoke grenades might sound like fun, but trust me
because I've seen this attempted before and it's not
as safe as they make it sound. One small mistake
and the whole batch goes up and once it starts there's
no way to put it out because the same mixture, in
slightly different proportions is also a form of rocket
fuel..
BTW, it's been a long time since I was able to buy
potassium nitrate at a drug store. You'll have better
luck at a farm supply as it's also used to treat cattle.

Enola Gaye smoke grenades are pretty legit. We sell them at our fields now and I've used them a few times with pretty good success (I suck at throwing, otherwise they'd have been more useful).
Burn for around 120 seconds, pretty thick smoke. Only problem is of course the wind. If its super windy they won't do a whole lot, but in the woods they really shine.
Also, they are cool burning, but they can scorch the grass a little. We used them during our serious drought here in Michigan with super dry grass without burning the facility down but I had my refs watching them closely to ensure nothing caught on fire in the dry climate.

I think it is prretty awesome that are feild sells sport smoke for 6.50 for a tactical and field size for 13.50.But I would NEVER bunker someone with one unless lol no.
We've been allowed to use cool burning orange lifeboat
smoke canisters out at D-Day for years. They're more
effective than the rest because they emit more smoke.
Enola Gaye and Superior Signal smokes, at least those
I've seen for the most part are smaller. The ONLY one
that matches the lifeboat smokes is one a little larger
than a soda can, which Superior Signal produces. The
issue with that one however is it's cost.
As to the question of should walkons be allowed to use
smokes, I'm not in favor of it because they've got more
than enough on their plates, just trying out figure out
how to keep from being eliminated, let alone worry
about deploying smoke grenades.
One final note, I don't know anyone who can toss a smoke
grenade as far as I can shoot, so unless you're prepared to
use them to create a screen to obstruct the other side from
seeing where you're moving, they're probably not going to
be of much use.
