hey, am i missing somthing here? i cant find the prize list for this event anywhere and i havent seen anyone say anything yet either.
is their a prize list out ?

the prizes are on the gpl site.. why were the prizes changed to estock cockers from 05 speeds?

yea and why was the prize for 3 man changed to stock a$s impulses for first... the second place prize package is MUCH better than the first place package .... thats pretty weak.. this is a horrible drop in the value of the prize for first from last event... i wish i would have known that before i signed up

Prizes fluctuate by event pending on what is availible from our sponsors. We purchased 90% of our prizes.

We purchase what is availible and what fits the price point we have advertised.

We try to keep things as consistent as possible from event to event, but sometimes that is not possible.

If your upset at the prizes then you are playing for the wrong reasons. I would gladly refund any team that has registered and does not want to play now because of the prizes.

There are over 70 teams in every GPL and only 4 teams win 1st place.

Paintball Tournaments are not put on to apease those 4 teams. They are put on for all 70 teams to enjoy and have a good experiance.

I remember the days when tournaments were in the woods, paint cost $125 per case and you won trophies for 1st with no prizes at all.

Things have sure changed.

and a question, if first is won, and the cockers are the prizes, would you buy them back and if not, can you distribute cash prizes instead?

The paintball world is so weird.

On the west coast the ebladed cockers would sell super fast and Angels may take a little longer.

I guess its just what the current trend is.

ps - oh, and shawn - yes people play for prizes. that is why there is competition out there. look at the tournaments that give out crap prizes - do you see them getting teams? no... look at skirmish that has tournaments that give out a plaque... how many teams they get? exactly.

if you do not think that players do not play for prizes, then you are in the wrong sport and should run far far away.. paintball is just not your thang

I've answered this a few time already but I will say it again.

Not all teams play just for prizes.

Example:
NPPL Div 3 - 1st place gets a free entry and 25 cases of paint. They sold out for the Miami event in 45min

XPSL - does not advertise prizes before the events, draws over 100 teams per event

PSP - Gives out Retail gift Certificates for prizes. Its not advertised what type of certificates or the individual values. Draws close to 100 teams

I could go on. There are many many more...

p8tballpimp123 - I don't mean to be disrespectful, but everyone doesn't think the same. There are always different views and ideas. I use my 10+ years in the industry plus the hundreds of emails, phone calls and players I talk to as a basis for my posts.

That doesn't mean I'm always right, which I'm not, it just means that I do talk to a lot of teams and players and have produced and/or played in hundreds of events over the years and draw from a pretty good base of knowledge for my suggestions and answers.

Everyone has the right to their opinion, but don't assume one persons opinion is less valid than another’s just because they don't agree with you.

ppl who play D3 nppl do it for the experience of playing a real high quality national tourney...
if GPL was giving free entry and paint for the next event for first no one would be playing.
also, if your winning in d3 nppl thats how you get recognised... your team will get things like sponcerships n stuff like that when they are winning in a series like that..

Both of you are right on.

kid killa 2005 - Your right some people play for experiance. The teams that finish 20-60th in NPPL D3 gain experiance, and they continue to return no matter their placing.

911 - Your also correct. The circuits that I mentioned get national exposure. So teams may be playing for something other than prizes.

This was my point. Some teams play for more than just prizes.

All tournament circuits started somewhere. The NPPL, PSP and XPSL didn't focus on only prizes, but rather the complete package.

When we started the XPSL we were paying for reporters to attend the events, and paying for magazine ads. The XPSL still does this. This takes money away from available resources that could purchase more prizes, but again the focus is on the complete tournament. (I want to mention here, that I do believe prizes are important to a tournament, I just don't believe they are the the only important factor)

The GPL has all the pieces in place to turn into a larger event that provides players the entire package.

That is the goal. And it is our responsilbility as tournament promotors to always improve and put on the best tournament possible.

however just as a suggestion or something to think about. Per your observation of east coast vs west coast preferences. you might wanna condsider swaping the ions and the cockers as far as first and second place prizes. Here you will find ions being more the preferred over cockers if you were to survey the first place winning teams.

but its just a suggestion. maybe worth surveying. before the tourney.

another thing, u didn't answer me before, how about you keep the prizes and go sell them to the west coast if u think they'd prefer them and then just give out cash prizes instead cuz teams good enough to win first trust me dont want those cockers, im sure theyd even prefer ions if cash cant be given out.

I really suprised about the negativity towards cockers. These are the same guns we gave away event #4.

They are ebladed super stocks. MSRP of $700 You can easily sell them online for well over $550

The Ions are great but with a MSRP of $300 you can't sell them for any more than $250.

So if your plan is to sell the prizes, then wouldn't you want to win the more valuble prizes?

Ebay doesn't care if your east coast or west coast!
