TRV (QEV) installed on O3 w/o an adapter...PICS

so my TRV's finally came in and i just finished installing them on my O3. installation is quick and easy. one surprising result is that there was no need for an adapter. that's right, my TRV fit without the need of an adapter. the inlet hole on the back of the ram is 10/32 threading so your TRV should just screw in.

well, i took some pics as i was installing my TRV so i could create some sort of a tutorial for any of you interested in this mod. so here goes.

first, this is your O3. this mod only requires you to concentrate on the back of your ram / back hose.

the first thing you want to do is to take off the hose from the back connection. you may want to take the trigger frame off to give you more moving room with the hose (don't forget to take off the eye cover too). to take out the hose, you must first (1) hold the clampers in place then (2) at the same time, pull out the hose.

once the hose is off, unscrew the back hose adapter.

here's a closer look at the TRV's. you don't have to use these. other options are eclipse QEV's or any other QEV's out there. i chose these for their compact size and because one of them is a staggered, 90* design. this one lines up with the back hose nicely as you will see in the pics later. contrary to what others may say, the TRV comes with a 10/32 adapter so no worries about fit.

and just for those who are curious to see what the TRV will look like with Pry8's adapter...

an o-ring was included in the straight TRV but i took that off and placed it on the 10/32 threading adapter which i placed on the staggered TRV. i then just screwed in the TRV onto the ram WITHOUT an adapter. i also had to cut a bit of the hose off because it was too long for the TRV.

air blows this way, instead of to my face.

so there it is. TRV installed WITHOUT an adapter. total installation time should be 5-10min.

QEV=quick exhaust valve
TRV=turbo relief valve (same function as QEV but made specifically by WGP)

QEVs/TRVs quickly relieves pressure from inside your ram helping your bolt come back to its open position faster. this results in a faster rate of fire.

including the cost of shipping, you can buy the whole TRV set at compulsivepaintball.com for ~$36 (black or chrome) i'm kicking myself right now cuz i got it somewhere else and paid slightly more...oh well.

now all i gotta do is decide what to do with the leftover straight TRV.

correction: ".....this results in faster cycle times, enabling higher rates of fire for the same amount of reciprocating mass."

and honestly not trying to step on ur toes but u jumped right over the result and went to what it enables. ever see that tv show "monk"? yeah i think i've got some of that obsessive/compulsive.

heh...

oh, and on a tangent, after i installed the TRV, i decided to swap out the bottomline reg and gas-thru with my sidewinder and unimount. to my surprise, it seems that the bottomline reg is held in place by an integrated rail mount at the bottom of the trigger frame.

this is good news for those of you who want to have a "no-drop" setup with your current bottomline ASA.

Hi, i was gonna fit an eclipse QEV when my maker gets back from ody...

Thing is arent they designed for smaller bore cocker hose?

i was a bit worried about this so thought i'd have a look on the net to see if other had done anything like this....looks like you have, did you have any problems?

the stock hose is standard pneumatic cocker hose...microline i believe. it fits directly onto your qev/trv.

and crazedballer, the O3 can already do 20+ bps without the qev.

I guess it might be safe to say that the 02 has the same thread pattern as the 03 on the ram cap??

I would very much like to get these, if I dont need an adapter.
