I recently noticed that my i4 mirror lense (dyetanium) was wearing down on the top of the lense. like the mirror finish is dulling out to kinda a smoke. i only use the microfibre to clean it and im not sure whats wrong.

anyone know why this is happening or if its defective?

This is normal with a mirrored lens. The mirror is just a coating which wears off.

Yep. Not a defect just a problem all mirror lenses share. If you can help it try not to actually wipe. Spray the paint off with a water bottle and then dab it dry with your micro and your coating will last much longer.

it won't effect performance/safety

It could be from transporting it in your gear bag or something - mirror lens require extra care to keep them from getting scratched.
