"A Bear man has died, after being put into a choke-hold by his stepson. He is identied as Jeffrey Mace. The case has been ruled a homicide, although no charges have been filed. The facts of the case are being reviewed by the detectives and the Delaware Attorney General’s Office.
The incident occurred early Monday morning morning (11/9) in the community of Garwood Estates. During the altercation, a male, 43, pointed a handgun at his stepson and fired a single round, but missed.The stepson was able to disarm and hold him in a “wrestling style” maneuver until his mother could put the gun in a safe place. After the weapon was put out of reach, the stepson let go of the hold and left his stepfather unconscious before leaving the home. Paramedics and police were called to the home. The 18-year-old was later taken into custody and is currently at police headquarters, where he was interviewed."

Firstly, the kid was just defending himself. The man shot at him, I would do whatever I could to defend myself too. I hope his charges get dropped. Secondly, I'm wondering how the man died. Maybe he kept the choke to long and sufficated him? I'm curious on how this all plays out.
so you can charge someone with murder after they try to kill you first, but fail and you kill them ? god i love this country

the reason why he has a possibility of being charged is not because he defended himself..
but they are determining if he used more than necessary force to defend himself. If you disarm him and hold him to the ground and injure him it is a clear defending. But usually it cant be so simple because he choked him to death and the police need to see if he needed to be choked for the amount of time to die to actually defend the stepson and mom
