I'm looking into buying a Toxic trix off C-list for under 200$...its got this and that on it,only thing is I've never owned a trix before.I want to know....
1.How can I tell if the Tox has eyes?
2.I cant seem to find any info on the Anno runs accept for a few of the colors used. This is a bright green Anno, rare?
3.Is it worth it?!?
4.What things should I spefically check before purchase,other than the obvious?(bolt wear,board seat,etc)

1. A Toxic is just like any other Matrix. If the picture in your Craigslist is of decent quality, you take a look at how the breech connects to the body. Look at the bottom back half of the breech. If it looks like there's a little spacer of metal in between the breech and the body, that's indication of an eye carrier, meaning eyes. More importantly though, how much of an issue are eyes with the advent of force feed hoppers?
2. The first Toxics were red. Other than that there have been all sorts of colors. I don't think even Toxic Dave remembers all of them.
3. Depends on what components are on it and what condition it's in. I just picked one up off eBay for $150, but its components were mostly stock.
4. Other than the obvious body milling, the Toxics had a unique breech and breech rod. The Toxic breech can be identified chiefly by the pronounced "fins" as well as the Toxic logo jewel on both sides. The Toxic breech rod has been milled out to look like a wagon wheel.
Hey Bones,
Thanks for your answers, definately informative.I'm going to shoot the gun tommorrow and hopefully walk away with it...looks like it has eyes as well. Will post pics if I do decide on it.
Good luck. Toxics are among the prettier of the "unique" milling designs, but you don't see them pop up as much. It's odd. It seems you're more likely to see an Ironmen for sale than a Toxic, and there are nearly twice as many Toxics.
Purchased....Guy had the regs set wrong and was trying to adjust FPS through the LPR....had my shop look at it and the thing is running fine now.Got to play yesterdat with it and it shoots GREAT.Only thing is, the gun is an absolute hog on gas.Time to buy a new tank.
Easier said than done, frankly. Full Evolve kits run around $125 usually, which is tough for cheapskates like me who have a Matrix collection growing at an alarming rate. Quick breakdown on efficiency of "common" bolt systems, from top to bottom:
Evolve 1.1 <--- up to 1850 shots off a 68/45
Evolve X-93
Aardvark Slam
Aardvark Red/Blue
Stock Dye "Image"
Gen 1 black or silver <--- up to 800 shots off a 68/45
There are other bolt kits out there, and other bolts, but really I don't have what I would call solid information on them. This includes Freeflow bolts, shocktech bolt kits, and other miscellaneous bolt mods (Leethal, C4, Biosleeve, etc.)
The point is, Aardvark red bolts are pretty damn good and a lot less expensive.
edit- My Toxic came in today. Pretty stoked. Going to be robbing components off other guns to make her proper.
Just took these pictures right now. Did not come with the SCM; had a PBC which I had to swap for picture-taking. Gun is *not* silver. Has a slight greenish hue which the camera does not seem to pick up. Pewter?
edit for table-breaking goodness.

edit- Anyway, I'm probably going to put the Slam bolt in my Toxic assuming the Canadian isn't scamming me. The reason being I have AKA 2-Liters on my other guns, and those are ludicrously high flow rate HPRs. I don't know how the Toxic/CP one performs, but just because it looks so right it has to stay. Since the Slam is limited to 15bps I may as well use the worst HPR. If it can't keep up with that I've got a bigger problem.
edit 2- Every gun I get in trade / buy is filthy. I generally take the first evening painstakingly inspecting and cleaning things. I noticed the eyes didn't seem to work on this Toxic. Took the eye carrier apart, gently pulled the eye out and it snapped in half. Great. I wanted to spend time re-routing eye wires in the dead air chamber.

Serial numbers on the LCD boards are gibberish and mean nothing. Quick breakdown on Toxics:
-Early ones were Gen-E bodies, and therefore had serial numbers on the back, just below the battery. Later ones were Dye bodies and had no serial numbers. The serial numbers mean very little when it comes down to it.
-Early Toxics were milled and, because of the extreme detail in the tribal pattern, were prone to "mill-chatter" or a somewhat rough looking mill job. Later ones were done by Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) on the recessed areas to make them prettier
-First half of Toxics were blind; eyes didn't exist at the time
-Toxics seem to vary on what style of breech jewel was used. Sometimes you'll find the skull and crossbones, sometimes the 'traditional' Toxic logo. I wish I could find replacement jewels but Toxic Dave won't respond to me.
-There is a magnet in the trigger frame, just under the trigger guard. What's odd is that the stock trigger set screw doesn't appear to be magnetic, rendering it pointless. Anyone else have a magnetic trigger set screw?

Other way around actually, early EDM, later machined

The original Toxic logo was essentially a skull and crossbones, we changed it later on, we did a bunch of variations with the Jems, including a freak one for the barrels

The trigger screw should be steel to work with the magnets, if you use a stainless one it won't work
