Normal group size?

Trying to get things off the ground, and I know it varies (and I have this bad feeling I asked this somewhere but can't find the thread). What is the normal group size you guys can expect. I don't want to overbuy equipment obviously.

Are you asking how many people we play as a group on one field or how many people come to the field as a "group" or how many people are at the field altogether at one time?

I believe you are currently looking at setting up a relatively small field. You are not going to attract groups of 20 friends if they can only play 3 on 3 or 5 on 5.

Its kinda like this... I am looking to do this smaller, but I can see this quickly rolling out of hand. I have to seperate out some legal issues but I have 40 acres that I need to isolate liability wise that I could use for anything I wanted. There are trust / estate issues involved around it but it is ideal paintball and (small creek might have some DNR ramifactions) but it is ravines, wooded, with a large enough area for parking / a decent speedball field.

So well yes, I want a portable arena, I am also getting this urge to go a bit larger scale...

I need to set out a better / more certain business plan on this.

I guess I am considering masks / markers, and wondering if 20 rental units for a "normal" field to start is so few that I will send customers away regularly / upset them in the beginning. I have a feeling my business plan is going to roll into a portable and non portable business in one... maybe.

Well it's easier to buy more equipment. If you find out you are turning customers away, you can get complete rental setups in less than a week, so I would start small. We started with 40, but in all honesty, it took a while for us to ever use all 40 sets of gear. 20 would be the absolute minimum.

I'd start with 20 guns and buy 40 masks. Why the extra masks? Because nobody wants to wear a mask where the foam's still wet from the last group. You'll also want to order extra barrel covers, as you'll probably lose one or two of those every weekend. A few extra tanks are good as well.

It's also a good idea to have a few extra guns, that way your customer doesn't experience any down time while you're trying to fix their rental.

I'd say 25 - 30 rental packages, but 35 masks.

We always get customers asking if they can go out and take pictures or watch their kid play, so we give them a rental mask and orange vest.

I'd suggest getting fill nipples and fill nipples orings as well for your tanks in case one goes down.

We have about 2 fill nipples go out and need replaced every weekend on our rental tanks.
